Bakker is famous for being a televangelist and husband to Tammy Faye Bakker. He's a convicted fraudster and has his own shady dealings with women; his secretary accused he and a colleague of drugging and raping her. Bakker paid her 279k to keep quiet, but reporters found the irregularities and released that information. Bakker lost his job to Jerry Falwell, divorced his wife, and spent around five years in prison, despite being given a 45 year sentence. He's now doing televangelism again, this time with a survivalist bent.
So running a church, tax exempt, etc etc, just the sort of people trump is allowing to get involved with politics!
Not Just Jim bakker, people like Jim bakker, so allowing churches to get involved with politics without risking their tax exempt status. Trump order frees tax-exempt churches to be more politically active Republican tax plan would let churches enter political fray
So... if these guys are just trying to bolster a patriarchal power structure, it makes sense that male sexual license is excused and even something to be lauded. It's hard to remember that at some point conservatives opposed pornography, hell, it seems almost quaint at this point - kinda like coming out against violent rap lyrics or censorship for Doom. Trump has paid off one porn star, and paid off a playboy bunny, but these stories seem almost unimportant in the face of sexual assaults that he's been accused of (including by another porn star). At least these were consensual encounters. But as long as he's willing to legislate against female agency and pay lip service to Christianity in the culture war, he's their guy.
Hannity calls report Trump ordered Mueller’s firing a distraction An excellent example of how biased news sources can skew their reporting of a story.
The White House asked to borrow a van Gogh. The Guggenheim offered a gold toilet instead. The human interest stories about the White House are occasionally wonderful.
it's really amazing to watch this administration fall apart bit by bit over the course of a year. sheer incompetence. no collusion to "oh darn, looks like the president is obstructing justice because obviously he colluded with a foreign government". this is delicious. grab the popcorn. this is what happens when you elect a charlatan. at least william buckley for decades kept the looney bin of the ultra right on the fringes. for this very reason. now, the brand is dead to millions for eternity.
I severely estimated how low conservatives would sink with Trump; I'm not sure that we can write them off completely. As has aptly been demonstrated, there are hordes of racist morons who will continue to vote against their best interests so long as they can find a strongman to persecute their enemies.
Donald Trump's tariffs on panels will cost US solar industry thousands of jobs 23000 jobs due to go in the US,
I can't even summon enough "give a darn" to get upset anymore. Every day there seems to be some other idiotic thing that this administration is doing. It's become so repetitive that I find I've gotten numb to it. Hmmmmmm ..... maybe that's their goal ....
that's the strategy pg. he's a reality show president. all he's trying to do is completely control the narrative: good, bad, whatever, it's all him all the time. basically he's turned our government into a reality show. at the end of the day, his policies are and have always been conservative orthodoxy: no right to choose, tax cuts for rich people, removal of regulation, nativist immigration policies.
FBI's McCabe Says He Was Forced Out - News & Guts Media This is being shared by Rachel Maddow, if it's true, it's a very very bad sign.
I'm very surprised your government institutions allow the president to sack the heads of your politically independent organisations. Maybe that's something that could change In future.
Along with increased oversight for the Executive branch, a psychological examination for elected officials, etc., I'll add it to the list. Sigh.
So same day that they vote to release a pretty obviously ginned up memo, same day that McCabe is forced from the FBI, the White House announces that it will not be enforcing the bipartisan sanctions that the senate sought to level against Russia: White House to Congress: Russia sanctions not needed now
