ah, it's September, and as my training log for the last 5 years show me, I get ill usually with a chest infection every year, so it should be unsurprising that I have a cold.
to add, I'm aching during simple exercises, so a light week for me :(

I hate it, when this happens: Stress training, I kick someone (slightly, not hard at all!) and hit his elbow.
He's fine (luckily! I would feel horrible otherwise), but shin still hurts like crazy.

I'm not prone to pain and can really well ignore it, but this time it actually distracted me a bit.
I kept training, I did well (as long as I didn't use my shin) and all and added some extra time afterwards, but it hurt

Now I wonder, if I will go train tomorrow or if it will be better, to wait over the weekend.
Especially, because my periosteum (new word! Yay!) on said shin is troubling for while already; of course I totally ignored that :D

I would give it a day and see how it goes. If you do it at night and its better by time of training obviosuly go. I dont know your training schedule so i dont know if there are any at the weekend. :p Better safe than sorry, it doesnt hurt to miss one or two days.

I can walk again and it only feels like a bruise now.

I made a tough decision though and decided to stay home today; within the next 9 weeks I have 6 weekends full with with seminars and gradings and think going slow today might be a sacrifice worth giving.
    I hate it.

    Hypocrisy annoys me. :mad::mad:

In 1998, First Lady Hillary Clinton read out loud, herself, a Dr. Seuss book to a live group of school children sitting her feet. This was specifically to promote reading literacy. A near-life-sized Cat in the Hat doll was standing next to her.

In March 2011 and January 2015 (and maybe other years, too?), First Lady Michelle Obama read out loud, herself, a Dr. Seuss book to a live group of school children sitting her feet. This was specifically to promote reading literacy and to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The Cat in the Hat himself was there (someone in a costume like at Disneyland, or a sports mascot). So were Thing 1 and Thing 2.

A few days ago First Lady Melania Trump sent Dr. Seuss books to a public school library, and was told, "No!!!!! Dr. Seuss is racist and inappropriate for school children!!!! We don't want these books!!!!!"

    :eek::oops::eek::oops::eek::oops: Wait, what?

Hypocrisy annoys me so much.:mad:

It was one librarian, and racism was a minor point in the librarian's letter.

Here is the letter: Dear Mrs. Trump

Here is the explanation as to why Read Aerica has dropped Dr. Seuss: Is the Cat in the Hat Racist? Read Across America Shifts Away From Dr. Seuss and Toward Diverse Books

It seems far less outrageous than the right wing press' headlines might have us believe.

^^^ Ha! The irony of a typo in "Read America"! :D

I just read the letter of the librarian and she actually made quite a good point in it: Why only give books to school who already have a good set-up and students with mostly good grades and not give to schools in poor areas or schools not testing good.
I even think it's a great thought and laudable.

Dr. Seuss isn't really known here, so I won't go on about the books being racist or not or whatever.
I will read the article though.

I don't know what difference it matters how many librarians rejected the books, and I can't tell if you're admitting or denying the hypocrisy.

I don't see it as hypocrisy, but changing values.

If Read America had decided to drop Dr. Seuss earlier, then Michelle Obama wouldn't have been reading Cat In The Hat with a guy in the suit next to her. It was such a minor point in the letter that I'm not sure why it is so important anyway, except as a false claim of double standards in the right wing press.

The little passage about racism didn't even seem to be going against the current First Lady, but was mainly letting her know, that there is the racism problem now.
It's not like the librarian went on calling First Lady Trump a racist, but more letting her know about the issue.

Yahoo News doesn't think it was "little" -- and neither is it a "right wing press."
The librarian stated 2 reasons for rejecting the books: she would rather a poorer school receive them, and they're racist (in her view). You can't say that 50% of the reason for rejecting the books is "little."

To not see that -- well, you guys' bias is showing. Even Yahoo News noticed it was 50% of the reason.

Every single December for, well, it seems my whole life, the cartoon version of "Grinch" has played on the major network television channels. And the song from the "Grinch" plays all day long on the Christmas radio channels during Christmas season -- every single year. Jim Carey stared in a live-action "Grinch Who Stole Christmas."

There was an animated remake of "Horton Hears a Who" a few years ago, and a remake of "The Lorax" more recently with Danny DeVito as the voice of the Lorax. Michael Meyers stared in a live-action "Cat in the Hat" not long ago.

There are more many, many more books, and they're so widely popular in this country that the library at University of California - San Diego is named after Dr. Seuss. That's right, the library of the liberal State of California's public university is named after this guy. Racist, racist, racist state of California.

Shame on Danny DeVito, and Jim Carey, and Mike Meyers. Shame, shame, shame. Let's boycott all of their future movies because they're racist!

Your own main point is, that said librarian addressed the issue only because it was a Trump, who gave the books and not someone else.
    That's just not the case.

And even though it might be a second point, it's only a few sentences and nothing she goes on and on about.
And again, in no way she called the First Lady a racist or told her that she totally screwed up, as you implied with your first post.

I really don't get what you are so annoyed and excited about, because the subject of the letter is not the First Lady herself?

EDIT: You don't think you're overreacting a little?

Yes, it is the case -- else it wouldn't have been given to the press.

She specifically says the First Lady donated ten racist books, and she specifically rejected the donation, and she sent back a list of ten other books she would rather have received. If that's not calling the First Lady a racist and saying she screwed up -- well, I don't now what would be.

I'm annoyed by hypocrisy. I don't think I said the subject of the letter is the First Lady; she's not, anyway. She's the recipient. ("Dear Mrs. Trump, ...") Well, perhaps she's both, because the letter does suggest alternative actions that she could take. Whatever.

I don't get why you're so worked up about this. Children's books of old get dropped from schools with fair regularity because of changing values and attitudes in society.

No-one is calling Melania Trump, Michelle Obama or Danny Devito racist. Hillary Clinton has come out with some racist clangers in the past, but that's a different matter...

Read America has decided that Dr. Seuss does not reflect the values they wish to espouse. What's wrong with that?
