Sex is biological and determined by chromosomes, gender is more complex and then you have to factor in gender identity and gender roles. Gender in of itself isn't a social construct, gender roles are. Then we get into gender being fluid, this is impossible and bordering a on a dissociative/gender identity disorder. When we get into all the gender stuff thats been coming out recently there are about 122 genders, then factor in "venngender" and "ego gender", that factors out to 1.3 quintillion genders thats 13 million times more genders than there are stars in the milky way galaxy. Bathrooms are not an issue, im all for unisex bathrooms but sex pests will abuse it.
My original partner letting me down as Uke, so I have to look for someone else; now my teacher wants to me to take someone, I don't get into a flow with, so I had to ask him, if I can chose yet another... But hey, the grading is only in three weeks. Nothing can go wrong now!
Yeah, I enjoyed WW. But the hype about it being the "first" strong female character lead is silly in my opinion. Resident Evil Underworld Hunger Games Cynthia Rothrock Moon Lee Michelle Yeoh Elektra Catwoman (Halle Berry...terrible but still counts) Mulan (in all it's iterations) Lucy Ghost in the Shell Chocolate There's more but kinda get the point. Sure, it's great seeing female action leads, but unfortunately the way WW is being marketed, kinda poops on the rest of those who already paved the way.
"Sex is biological and determined by chromosomes, gender is more complex and then you have to factor in gender identity and gender roles. Gender in of itself isn't a social construct, gender roles are." Needlessly simplistic definition that doesn't really describe the biological reality. Pretty much useless actually - all you've offered up is a circular and semantic definition. Read the article.
Ya, I was thinking the same thing. Princess Leia has been a bad-ass since I was 5 years old. Doesn't she count for anything? Doesn't tv count? There's Linda Carter's WW, and Xena, and Bitten, and the entire female clan of blue butterflies on Badlands. ::shrug:: People with narrow agendas, man. I don't like them.
Let's not forget all the women on the remake of Battlestar Galactica. All strong women in their own varied ways. Not to mention that was an awesome portrayal of a fully integrated military.
Maybe First strong female lead (not as part of a group) in an comicbook adaption / super hero Film (not a series) would be more accurate.
Im not sure how inspiring they are...... Although I quite enjoyed elektra back in the day. I imagine it hasnt aged well though.
Will I be crucified if I mention Kill Bill? I loved Elektra! Made me want to learn to use sai. (also, powerpuff girls )
My phone timer went off, phone vibrated across the shelf, fell off and right into the corner of something metal. Very smashed/cracked screen
Pet peeve. When Coach teaches everyone a move/submission to drill. Then during sparring, get caught by said submission. I know it's coming. I see the damn sequence. I literally just learned the escape.... but noooooo body just has to be tired after 40mins of sparring and just let it happen.
Alas, my swords are gone now I think it was either the weight plates, or the bottom of the bench. I couldn't figure out which as I was too busy doing the slow motion drive while screaming "noooooooooooo". Managed to replace the screen and £50 lighter for it.
One of my cats hurt his leg yesterday and started limping. After calling the emergency number yesterday, describing what has happened and how he is behaving and getting the answer, that going today should be enough, if nothing gets worse, we went to the vet today. Everything around it is annoying. The worst obviously, that he is pain. Then he made me sleep at the couch last night (okay, okay, I decided to do that, because I have a high bed); calling it "sleep" is a nice word, for what I did. When we came back I needed to at least try to get some sleep. On the couch, because I love my cat and don't want him, to have more pain. So, logical consequence: Cat went up my bed So I climbed after him, and we at least got some sleep. Second worst: He has to get painkillers now. Metacam. I'm pretty sure that's the same medication, that nearly killed one of my other cats as a kitten, when she hurt her leg badly. So I'm totally comfortable, giving him that At least it's likely that the whole situation made the kitten get worse, but I still don't like giving him that.
