Just found this while surfing YouTube post episode 1 of new black mirror; basking in its brilliance before driving into the next.

    Here's the video

I thought the fluidity and almost complete absence of bodily tension in the punches, especially when the trainer is holding mits for one of his guys was fantastic. It's a really good reminder of how important relaxation and full body engagement is for strikes.

Russian arts seem to use the elbow in a very strangely wobbly way that you don't often see from other areas. You can see it in Cossack sword dancing and folk dance/fights, and some Systema guys, presumably taken from the Cossacks.

Interesting. I've not seen Cossack sword dancing but immediately I can agree with the systema parallel.

I wonder if it is indeed a common thread running through russian martial arts from a shared root.

You can see some Cossack wobbly elbow in the first few seconds of this video:

Isn't Morris dancing the Eskrima equivalent of Capoeira?

Those unassuming, handkerchief wearing on their shoes folks is skilled...

Nice find! The class looks like it's run more like wrestling classes I've been to Vs boxing classes with all the bridge work.
