Do I was looking through the OS on Netflix and there's a few episodes I'd never seen on terrestrial repeats somehow!

Also I'm looking forward to rewatching all the Q episodes of TNG, and the dominion episodes of DS9.

    Jesus I'm a massive geek.

It's like if TNG was more watchable

Mushroom De-powered to come back better than before.

I'm a few eps in. For me, bit of a weird one to slowly get into.

The Klingons is definately something that needs to be eased in on. I appreciate that nearly each ST has had different Klingons (save for TNG Universe). But at least they explained the ST:OS version of essentially "minstrels".

The Klingon speech, is very throaty and gutteral. Sounds like if you have a fever and blocked nose and then try to speak Klingon. (Yes, I had Worf's guide to Klingon on CD).

The spore thing was funny, I was actually in the middle of the Joe Rogan podcast when I started the series, where he was interviewing Stamets about the mushrooms/fungi etc.

So without question...I am the ruler of the Universe. :D

Thoughts on STD (ahem) at the moment: Weird. Needs getting used to. See how it goes.

When you get to the current last one available, it opens up to a potential explanation re cannon issues, and if it is, what I think it is, it's a doozy of an explanation!

Im six deep into orvile now (quack) and its really really good still, good cameos too.

Mushroom De-powered to come back better than before.

I just assumed (from the 1st ep) that they were from a certain clan/race of Klingon which explains the differing Klingon speech and look.
It was mentioned in the Star Trek reboot movie that Uhura spoke all different Klingon dialects. I'm pretty sure I heard this in one of the series' but I can't remember from where....or it could've been during one of my more nerdy conversations with others.

It may be that too, but the cliff hanger at the end of the most recent one leaves it massively open re time lines / alt universes etc, and the writers have said that all Canon issues will be resolved in the next season, so I'm thinking this is the reason.

Also boringly part of the reason is the different copywrite they have on it, it's the same reason why the movies were all different too.

Have you seen the fan produced star trek continues yet?

There essentially sequels to all the TOS episodes.

It's next up for me, once I've finished enterprise and orville, it looks fun in a retro way.

I personally, think that those in power in regards to Trek, needs to stop cramming in history and now focus on going forward.
Otherwise the next series is going to be...
"Before Picard, before Kirk, somewhere in between Archer and Kirk...we bring you.. Some one who did things that profoundly affected the Federation but never mentioned ever"

STD can actually be a post Picard Universe, with the odd tweak and less chance of tripping any cannon issues.

    What the...?
Netflix tells me, there's only nine episodes so far?
Last one ending with Stamets breaking down after "the last jump" to get to the starbase

Aside from that: I really, really like the show.
Yeah, the Klingons need a bit of getting used to, but I don't mind at all.

I watched all Star Trek shows (including the Animated Series, btw) and am only missing a bit of DS9, since I never got to look the past couple seasons (I can do that now, I guess ), so I was looking forward to Discovery.
    And I didn't regret it.

I like the characters, the ships are beautiful, the story... okay, rather war-driven for Star Trek, but in all honesty I think it won't hurt the show, as long as they don't become the biggest war-mongers with Crimes of war and such.

I put the next in spoiler tags again, in case someone reads it who doesn't want to know. It's going on a bit about the characters.

Captain: I enjoy Jason Isaacs, so that was a nice surprise.
About the character I like, that he is not as healed as he made the Doctors believe, but still wants to get going and found a way. Maybe not the best, but probably the only one.

    Michael: Love her.
I always wished to be Vulcan so I had a liking on her right away.
Had to laugh out laugh when she was dictating her log in one episode, where she had her face a nightmare: A party.
I could talk the text alongside her without knowing the episode, because that is exactly what I feel like every time there is an event similar to it :D
Lots of things I can relate to, so that was interesting.

Saru: All arms and legs and makes me feel fat. Also makes me want to lose weight again, so maybe that's not a bad thing after all.
More seriously: Interesting character, interesting species.
I hope, they will show even more about his species.
Or new species in general; I don't care the slightest how likely it seems to some that there would be species in that show, who weren't not even mentioned in TNG and so on.

Tilly: First time I had to get clear if her name was Silvy Artillery or Silvia Tilly; I blame that on being not raised with the English language; because it sounds better than hearing aid ;)
My first impression was: She could be exhausting.
Than I noticed: I actually like her.
I would probably have to learn to handle someone who's talking so much, but she's a nice person.
And when she once said something of the sort: Oh, it's not my fault [problem with the other person]? Given that that's rare, I would like to hear about, how it's not my fault."
Being there myself, and myself like to hearing explanations like that - there at the latest, she would have won me over :D

    Stamets: Awesome.
I liked his grumpyness, he's change to less grumpy :D and the relationship to the Doctor.

Culber: We need more of him.
Also like that they have gay characters more present.
Yes, Neal McDonnoughs Lt. Hawk was supposed to be gay, but he wasn't main cast exactly in the movie.

Tyler: I loved the scene when he had his flashback to the torture and couldn't do anything anymore.
Should be interesting to see what they will make out of his relationship to T'Kell.

    Tribble: Awesome!
    Come on! Tribble!

All in all: I could have done with a little more making out on board.
But as long as that doesn't become the main plot I live with it.

    Was was totally awesome: Sarek!
I hope, hope, hope he comes back more often!
    Same with Amanda!

I also wonder, if they make Spock appear.

And that Mudd has a part was nice too.
I didn't consider to see much characters that might be known from TOS, but actually - why not?
Sure, it shouldn't be overdone, but it's nothing that would be impossible.

Makes me also wonder if somehow Enterprise-Characters may have some sort of appearance, like Archers name on screen at the very least.

    Also: The effects are beautiful!
I would have like to stay at Pahov myself :D

    Oh boy...

I actually don't have seen that many movies of him, but from what I have seen (and enjoyed at times, I don't have a general problem with his work) - I really wouldn't need his work in the Trek-Universe.
