    Just saw a news article -- we lost Tom Petty.
    Another one gone. :(

    I remember him on "The Garry Shandling Show." I was all, "Wait, that's the guitarist on the radio? That's a famous singer?" I started to like his songs after that.

    I have to admit, I never heard of him.
    So I googled him - apparently it's not entirely clear, that he actually did die, but "only" took off of life support?

    Admittedly: Doesn't really make it better, I guess.

    Ya, how do you like that? The headline now reads: "CBS Erroneously Reports Tom Petty’s Death, Setting Off an Outpouring"
    :mad::mad::mad:

    They're saying he had a heart attack. Must have been a bad one, to start the rumor. :(

    No, he is gone. :( The news reported his death, then backtracked and said he was on life support. But he was taken off of life support and now really is fully gone. Well, he is gone, but his music lives on.

    This one bums me out. I have several of his albums. Will always regret I never got to see him in concert.

    LOVED Chris Weidman using "won't back down" as his walkout song when fighting Anderson Silva. One of my favorite songs and a perfect song to use when fighting a legend.

    Very sad news indeed.

    I was a fan of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as well as the Traveling Wilburys.

    The world is a colder and darker place. We have lost yet another musical legend.

    Ah man! I had forgotten all about the Traveling Wilbury's. A true super group! Gonna go pull up some of their music now!

    Sad news, he was no great age. Saw him around '87 supporting Dylan (and backing him as I remember) - fantastic live musician and wrote some classics, RIP.

    first concert ever was TP and the Heartbreakers hard promises tour 1981 Cal expo racetrack during the California state fair. halfway through a helicopter landed on the other side of the track and Stevie Knicks walked out and on stage. Stop dragging my heart around was a hit at that time so she sang that and a couple other songs and then flew away. A great memory of a great first ever concert. Tom was one of those guys who could have toured and sold out venues forever without having a top hit song in a really long time, he was just such a likeable guy. A million hits.

    I also very much enjoyed him as the voice of "Lucky" on King of the hill.
