Title says it all really yet another massive talent gone http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36106778.
Wow, I never actually thought "Prince" was his real name. But it was. His songs weren't quite my style but he had undeniable talent. Amazing musician. Great loss for music.
Utterly gutted! I've been a fan for 25 years and seen him live numerous times! This was a bolt from the blue. I almost expected him to go on forever!
he was ridiculously talented, a real one off. was very sudden, couldn't have been very old either will be long remembered for sure.
Prince didn't play the type of music I generally like, but none the less I had respect for him and so did a lot of people. minor related story: About 1990 I was in a very, very amateur thrash metal band, and we casually/accidentally met up with a minor pro thrash metal band, and all they were talking about was Prince and how much they were fans. They were listening to Prince on their bus all the time to hear them tell it. Goes to show when you are that talented, even people out of your normal fan base can sometimes be fans. As a guitar player, I have to admit the guy was a great player. I wish he had have done more of it on his records.
A big loss. I heard today that he has over 2000 finished songs in a bank vault under his home. As yet there is no knowledge of what will happen to them!
One of the things I enjoyed most when I saw him live, was watching him play guitar or, even better, bass. When he let rip (particularly at aftershows, he was awesome.
He'd started back in that direction with 3rdeyegirl. Lot of heavy guitar work, and some great back and forth between him and Donna Grantis.
I play bass so I always had an appreciation for those times he'd pick one up and go on a tear. His stuff bass-wise on his tracks is always a bit more than it leads on. I was learning the bass for "Sign 'O' the Times", and it just wasn't sounding right, until I started slapping the string proper. I'll miss those nuances he put into everything he did.
