Good rules, but I'd disagree on the 'no weapons, no martial arts' thing.

I wouldn't discourage my hypothetical daughter from taking martial arts (in fact I'd be happy if she did) but I think the three rules are much more important.

Ah, got ya. Yeah they're pretty rudimentary. Being a BJJ black belt won't help if you're drunk to the point of having no motor skills.

Also, you can keep a taser in your *purse*??? Not even the C2 looks THAT small.

Yeah it's 5.5" when not loaded, 6" when loaded. Some women carry strange purses...

my father taught me that if you cannot handle your alcohol, you have a weak will. it is something he instilled in my sisters as well. teach your daughter to drink alcohol properly. never on an empty stomach. always with food and always with water. always with friends. and say NO a glass or two before the buzz.

She should stay with her friends, both for her safety and for theirs. How often are women sexually assaulted in groups? Exactly.

If there is one technique you can teach it should be this - scream. Scream loud, scream often, do not stop screaming.

Yep. The last thing a rapist wants is attention, because that means witnesses.

I think I'd also remind her that she has teeth, and fingers. Worst case scenario, if she had to actually fight someone off, she'd probably get overpowered by an average sized guy, but she can still bite or pull at soft tissue. An insane person once bit 20 mouthfuls of skin/soft tissue off of someone when given the wrong medication. Do that to a rapist and I suspect he would not be a rapist very long.

A weapon and martial arts isn't going to help you if you dont take logical-mental preparation.

As it had been said, alcohol and being drugged would render weapons a martial arts useless

    That works too, yes :D

There's a few different forms of those. I like* the spring bladed one the best, shock would probably set in fast with that. Hooks and needles might well just anger a rapist further, but shock is still shock no matter how angry you are and how much pain you can tolerate. Freaking horrible I know, but we are talking about rapists here.

*I'm not sure 'like' is the best word...I don't like it the way I like ice cream, death metal or big cute dogs. I just approve of it the most because it seems the most effective.

...just no. No one in the industrialised world is at a high enough risk of being raped to justify that thing existing.

boards Its all in the reflexes!

Like Moosey said, sensible behaviour is key.
    a) stay in your group of friends
    b) dont drink till your insensible
    c) dont go home with strangers
    d) stay in the light and avoid isolated areas.
    e) dont hitch hike
    f) if some drunk person is hassling you at a licensed venue ask the staff or security for help.
    g) at home, make sure you have secured your building with locks and alarms.
    h) don't scream rape, fire is usually a better way to get people to come to your help.

For you dads out there with daughters. Best time to be cleaning your shotgun on the front porch is when the young man comes to pick up your daughter.

Great line from the film Clueless when lad arrives to take daughter out

'I have a .45 and a shovel. Dont let anything happen to my daughter'

    JUDO!

Have the conversation about safety, regardless of how embarassing it may be for all concerned

    Get to know her friends

Get your ass out of bed and go collect her from the club/pub/party

Above all, as Moosey says, never go off alone. If your friends bale on you, then they are crap friends. Stay at the venue and call dad/mum/sybling/trusted friend/cab (always keep enough for a cab fare home). They may be ****ed off (not the cad driver...obviousely), but will get over it

    WARNING:

I'm only going to say it one time... if the thread gets any more posts with weird rapist punishment fetish and fantasies (that includes devices)... then I'll close it. Seems every thread at MAP on rape quickly descends into everyone bent for building elaborate fantasies based on how they would torture, kill or mete out retribution on a rapist. It's really pretty stupid and doesn't in any way server to further the topic.

There's really no need for the thread to go that route and if it does it gets locked and possibly bans handed out. I've posted, in essence, this same message several times in other similar threads. By now everyone should have a clue.
