does any1 know sensi clay jonhson? im a wheelchair martial artist, with cerabal palsey, from wolverhampton in the U.K. i've been practicing martial arts for almost a year now and would just like to let sensi jonhson know that it was seeing his avertar, wathing him on youtube, then reading the news papper articles about him that gave me the push to follow a dream i've had since i was round 6 years old. Im 32 now and have my 7th kyu (3rd belt - yellow) in modern karate/kickboxing, with the BRITISH MODERN KARATE ASSOCIATION. I also practise Ki Aikido, (in which i have my 5th kyu - yellow) and wing chun.
No kidding! I find it to be a very rewarding, if frustrating hobby. Don't worry if you kill your first couple of trees, it can take a while to figure them out. I've been doing it for five years or so, am getting close to finishing my first couple trees and I'm still killing others. :c
bonsi is it best to buy one first, rather than grow one from the seed, when starting out? which MA do you practicse?
Most of the time when you work with a new bonsai, you're chopping back rather than growing out. You might start with something that just looks like a shrub and then cut it back into what looks like a tree. What I'd suggest is going to a garden center, finding something with good potential and then styling it yourself the first year, then put it into a nice pot the second. http://www.betterbonsai.com/bush/buxus/01.html This website shows a very easy to accomplish way of creating a nice boxwood bonsai forest.
