Yes, you must have only glanced through this thread? This has been addressed here. When MAPpers offered criticisms of the video's, the Mantis company took them down and said they didn't actually represent their product accurately. They admitted the problems with the video's. Even though they were the ones who originally put up the video's to advertise their product. They have promised to put up more accurate video's in about a month.
Yourself, and others, continue to state that the system "works", but have failed to address numerous requests to provide evidence that the techniques work in a live (i.e. real/actual) situation.
One thing that baffles me is this system is meant to teach breakaways. From grips. An adult gripping a child in some way. And yet the mantis training arm is a fist that can't grab things. I like the idea of an "arm" you can really rag on and simulate full power techniques on. But translating that into breaking adult grips? I'm having trouble with that leap.
Shockingly bad. Not biomechanically sound and dangerous to children. Have fun finding your kid in the scrubland after this all goes pair shaped. [Applause] Sorry to be so morbid but it's disgustingly irresponsible to teach this to children.
Somebodies not read the rest of the thread.......... Isn't awareness the most important factor in SD?
Shamefully ridiculous. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a spoof video. Looks like something from Brass Eye.
Here's the thing though...children should be encouraged to squirm, wriggle and shout if they are grabbed by someone. There are angles and movements that can help break grips and make holding on harder (and this vid shows some of them..albeit not very well). The child doesn't have to break an arm or flip someone with a wrist lock. Just resist hard enough and long enough that the attackers will to carry out the attack is outweighed by their desire not to draw attention to the situation or get caught and they bail.
The guy in all the videos, used to be in MAI all the time advertising things, his name was very italian IIRC, I assume hes just used as a model here, or is he something to do with the system?
Can't argue with the pink Mantis logo/font, they've clearly got their fingers on the 'what women want/need' pulse... Travess
I wonder what the advert said, when he read it and said... Thats a role, I can play! Weak man required to act as a child snatcher...... It doesn't sound like him TBH
