Furinkazan If you're serious about lucha why not join a wrestling group near by and then nip down south *shudders* now and again to work on the lucha aspect and train it when you're back? You never know you could be the gym's only luchador and a valuable asset to the club. I doubt the gym would mind as I believe most organisations need a wide variety of wrestlers and styles. Over time you could set something up yourself if you get serious.
If you're talking about Lucha Britannia , I got 2 friends who have joined and when I got time, I'll be going as well. Luchadores have a distinct style of being more "acrobatic" than their Chain/Catch wrestling counterparts. Grappling/Combat Submission gives you the idea behind the locks etc and how to make it look realistic. But generally its just practice practice when it comes to other things such as their version of a breakfall (essentially a stunt fall) Catching the wrestler (so you don't harm yourself and them) And also their signalling techniques. I believe they have an article on Muscle/Fitness coming soon.
Neither of my teachers mind cross training. One of which teaches Karate, Shin atemi (a japanese MMA style) and Brazilian Jujitsu, so I have some of the submission wrestling, though I lack knowledge on things like catch-wrestling. I think Lucha, despite looking great fun, could be an interesting supplement
Not sure if I misunderstood, but I meant...Join a local pro-wrestling club and nip to the London one when you can to work on the Lucha libre. Or are be both confused Hannibal - didn't you wrestle? Did you just train or have matches too?
living in the Lytham (a mostly retirement area, basically god's waiting room) puts me at a bit of a disadvantage of things of a martial or combative variety.
