FWIW, Xanth, DragonKarma has made it clear in past posts that s/he most likely trains at a school run by master Gause. So I, for one, am not surprised the seminar details were known by him/her. Hi, Elliott, and welcome to MAP!
Oh nice , I might know him/her then. (and I wouldn't be shocked if the Dragon himself visited this board)
Hello Pugil my friend. Thanks for the ideal of a mock up but no. I have tried to contact Master Paul kim. I have his e-mail address and sent him some pictures that I had of Master M-Y Kim but he has not gotten back to me. D2
I meant to follow up and nearly forgot... I studied Ji Do Kwan under Masters Charles Stepan and Samuel Naples in Youngstown Ohio. We were organized under Master Kae Bae Chun. This was from around 84 to 87 when I was in High School. I've attached a picture of the original brochure I have from the school. I have the original student hand book that Master Naples developed for his students. It outlines belt requirements to reach 1st Dan and lists kicking and hand movements, self defense and forms needed for each belt. I really enjoyed it at the time, but I enjoy Kuk Sool so much more. I'd never go back to TKD.
That's pretty cool, I don't have pictures but I studied with a gentleman named Jeff forby in southern Illinois that taught hapkido and tae kwan do in the nineties, he belonged to the American moo sul kwan association founded by lee park. Gm park and Gm ISH taught a seminar together in Louisiana in the seventies.....I am not sure of the exact date, but I am given to understand it was an interesting time for martial arts..
Evening. I'm a JKN who trained in Kuk Sool Won from 2003-2007 under then-SBN, now KJN Ian Cameron of Inverness, and having gone back after a four year hiatus (discovered alcohol and drugs), I now train under KJN Don MacKenzie and SBN Gavin Chung of Edinburgh. It's tough having to go through everything, knowing that years back I was able to do all the techniques and forms up to JKN off the top of my head, but there's nothing I can do except MORE PRACTICE, SIR! I'm also understanding the principles of techniques better than I used to, and I'm pretty sure my joint manipulation is much better now.
Perhaps my introduction made my life sound more dramatic than it was. I weren't a junkie or owt; I just got to like the herb a bit more than was healthy and lost motivation. What got me back into KSW was realising how damn unfit I was when I tried running for a bus. Since I already knew KSW, it seemed the sensible way to get back into a regime, and drink and weed don't go too well with it. Drink dehydrates me, making me cramp up more easily, and weed just makes my brain slow down. I ain't quitting either, just cutting right back on both. Nevertheless, it was an amazing feeling when I got into class and we started with Ki Cho Hyeung. My body just moved on its own
I've no idea. It just reminded me of a saying..."rehabs for quitters". All that gave me a laugh. Glad your back in KSW and if your going to party a little it's good to do something to keep healthy.
Hello, My name is james an I study kuk sool won in Fort Smith Arkansas under Master Mike Gray. Nice to meet all yall
Well, welcome to MAP, BBO. :bow1: Guessing that you don 't commute too far in order to take MA lessons, you're more of an okie/arkie hybrid, right? Anyway, anxiously awaiting the day that you ask the mods to change your screen name to "blackbeltokie."
Thank you for the wellcome ,yes I am a good ol okie arkie hybrid you got that one. I have alot of hard work ahead of me to earn that blackbeltokie
Hello all. Finally wanted to jump into MAP community after following some of the forums for a few weeks. I've recently returned to Kuk Sool after a number of years absence that began with a knee injury from being young and ignorant enough to put stock in being invincible. It's a slow start and my mind is remembering more than my body wishes it did; but it's wonderful to be back into it.
