I have decided I am going to study kajukenbo when I come back from out of town in a month and a half if I like the class. But I am curious. The dojo is called Kajukenbo Reyes Kenpo Karate club. But they dont have kenpo karate, which made me curious. Is Kajukenbo considered to be a form of Kenpo or Kenpo karate??? Ive seen these be interchangeable at many dojos online so Im a little confused.
Kajukenbo holds lineage through Professor Chows Kempo/Kenpo lines. The original development of Kajukenbo was based around that Ken/mpo framework and often gets referred to as Kajukenbo-Kenpo. If you look at the family tree of Kaju you will often see some of the offshoots get named kenpo or kempo, it is just part of the greater family.
