ETGS is the "quick...look over there!!" Self defence program that is designed to offer a chance to escape (hence the name) by putting in a solid distraction first

It's aimed at women and children and vulnerable people primarily and is never done against someone actually fighting you

Ironically there is a video I shot for Dunc on MAP that is a guard pass with groin shots , but they are the LEAST of the defenders worries and it can only be done if you an actually grapple in the first place

Learning how to cheat at something only ever works if you know how to do aforementioned something

I remember that vid. It required to stand in base first as you said. You couldn't do it if you couldn't pass.

Yup - you need the foundation before you add the tricks

Truth be told that's not how I would personally execute groin kicks. I just change the angle for inside leg kick. JKD 101.

Apologies to the OP as this is off topic
I don't know how JKD does it so this isn't a reaction to that

The basic issue with groin kicks is that they're relatively easy to defend against by turning the knee in

So you've either got to get yourself square on with your opponent standing with his legs pretty far apart or find a way to control his knees such that the defence is difficult
In the clip above you're doing this by manipulating his spine etc before the kick - which takes a bit of practice

Also kicking with the instep makes the knee defence much harder, but you can kick harder with the shin of course

A Judo BB friend of mine one day walked into a petrol station in the midst of an arrest going south. The fleeing robber threw a haymaker at him as he stepped in the doorway. My friend stepped in and performed seoi nage, and just as he was about to drive him into the floor the guy suddenly became really heavy and he couldn't finish the throw. He looked back to discover that a small female police officer had mistakenly believed he was trying to aid the escape and was desperately hanging on to the guy's ankle :D

Well for me it's just a quick jab, then a kick in the nuts.

Damn - I have to get back into grappling, I think.

Getting tired of getting tapped out.

Maybe those groin shots won't save me then. If anything, it would probably lead to a ****ed off opponent and a broken arm. = /
