In two weeks I start by joining a course of JiuJitsu at university. I'm really excited. So I'm at the lookout for people already occupied with the art.
Hope to share some experiences soon.

    Stay cool!

Hi i'm Glyn - first studied Seiki-Juku Karate around 15 years ago upto 1st Kyu level.

Gave up MA totally when I left Karate, now 15 years and many MANY stone heavier - turning 30 and the fitter/healthier campaign is underway.

I have started gym training to improve fitness recently, and stumbled across a local Ju Jitsu club (the thought of returning to active MA 15 years after leaving, and currently being so unfit was.....daunting to say the least!)

Well, my first class was last week, and thanks to Sensei Alan (Alansmurf) my determination, love and motivation for MA has more than been restored (actually restored is a bit light, set ablaze with fearsome passion is more like it ;) )

Just starting my new journey into Mushin Bushikan Jujitsu........and I am determined to give it 100%!

Hey everyone, I just had my first jujutsu class today. I worked on breakfalls most of the class after the conditioning and stretching. Some of the advanced students were doing some impressive throws. It's Japanese jujutsu so I don't believe there is a lot of groundwork but I could be wrong. I think I finally found the martial art for me.

    Hi there Im Justin ,
I absolutely love Jujutsu..I studied Shotokan for four years and had to stop because the school shut down.. For the past 19 months I have been studying DanZan Ryu Jujutsu under Grandmaster Dr. Crimi at the Hikari Ryuza Ryu Do Kan. Im also being introduced to the healing arts of Seifukujutsu.. Jujutsu has been mind blowing and I'm hooked.

Hi everyone! I've posted a couple of times but I've been so busy training lately that I haven't been able to get here as often as I'd like. I'm fairly new to martial arts but absolutely addicted. I've been training in Ho Shin Do for about a 1 1/2 years, usually 5 days a week for at least 2 hours. I'm now a senior red belt and will get my brown belt in May. BTW, Ho Shin Do is a hybrid system with TKD style kicks and Muay Thai style knee and elbow strikes, with chinese boxing and realistic self-defense training. We do forms and sparring but not in the TKD/karate style. Our forms are free-flowing and combat based. We place a lot of emphasis on realistic fighting and although there are some flashy TKD style kicks, we concentrate on more combat-useful kicking in general.

Anyway, about 6 months ago I was invited by my Ho Shin Do instructor to do the BJJ class and now I can't get enough. I train in BJJ about 2 to 3 times a week. I'd train more often if I could. I find it absolutely exhilirating, empowering, and so wonderfully challenging. Now that I've learned a little, I'm starting to understand the strategy a bit more and I'm convinced that BJJ is the thinking person's martial art. It's like chess. You must plan several moves ahead, yet be prepared and adaptable to changing conditions. And when I'm done with a grappling session I feel like I've had a full body massage. :D So what if there's a few bruises here and there.

BTW, I'm the only woman in my BJJ class. I'm pretty small, I'm 62 inches tall and I weigh about 120 lbs. But I'm strong and I'm fiesty and I love grappling with the big guys. It took 6 months of training but last week I finally tapped out one the big guys. He weighs about 230 lbs and is over 6 feet tall. I got him with a rear naked choke. What a day! But in case you think I'm not being humble, we grappled again and he submitted me with an arm bar in about 2 minutes! Oh well! That's how you learn.

I'm glad to be here and I really enjoy reading the BJJ posts especially. And, I hope to be able to add some intelligent insight to the conversation occasionally. ;)

    Happy training to all!

    Kim

Hi Pocket-Ninja here  I started Combat Ju Jitsu when I was 15 and have been doing it for about 6 years. Im 2nd dan. My training has been a bit of an up hill battle as I walked into a all male class, and me being a 5ft female struggled abit in my first belts. As time went on I got a lot of respect from my Sensei and the other men at my class and now alot of other woman are joining. I achieved an 'honours' award from my sensei on my green belt and a dedication award not long ago and won a kickboxing fight. Just wanted to say hi to all my fellow Ju Jitsu people all around the world :) Keep fighting!!

I started off as a wrestler when I was a sophomore in high school back in 1998. From wrestling I moved on to Tae Kwon Do and received my brown belt 2 years later. I started my training in Brazilian Jujitsu in 2004 and now here i am.

I'm in the police academy right now and hoping to land a job with the local PD some time next year. I'm also an Army National Guardman with the 19th Special Forces.

    Youngster.

I've got very little actually class experiance under my belt, but a lot of informal training. I'm here to learn about the philosophies and everything I possibly can. I'm young, and slightly niave, so cut me a break sometime. haha.

    I just got back, I think I'm hooked :)

We ran through a few wrist holds and bits, too much to take in first lesson as always but enough to make me smile every time I got left in a hold! The only downside is going through the TKD forms that come bundled with it, I forgot how much I disliked TKD, but I'll suck it up until I can go to a dedicated Jiu Jitsu club.

Looks like I'm staying in this part of the forum :D

Hello, my name is Mike and I'm 18 years old, and I just started BJJ at American Top Team just about a month ago. I absolutely love it. It's a great workout and I learn something new every class. I got my first sub on Friday with an armbar from the guard on this guy who is like 20 pounds bigger than me.
