Introduction time Hi all. So I have been doing Tsutsumi Hozan Ryu Ju Jutsu at Jan de Jong School in Perth for the last 2 and a half years or so. I did a couple of years training back when I was a kid, ancient history now though as I was away for 12 years. Am currently 5th Kyu which is blue belt in our system but going for 4th Kyu this weekend, so wish me luck!
Hello Hello to all! My name is Steve McCarthy. I live in NE,Indiana(USA) I studied Judo when I was in my teens and for a short time while in the Army(70's& early 80's) In other words along time ago.lol I have been interested in Ju-Jutsu for awhile now but due to some serious health problems I have not done any real training in years(I'm doing much better now thanks to the great HC professionals at VA medical center) Thanks much, Steve M:hat:
Hey guys, My names jack mc cann. Have been doing judo as well as jiu jitsu for about 4/5 months now. Was sick for my last grading so I haven't moved up yet. I am currently a white belt but I have lots of time to train - only 16.
Welcome aboard! Jujutsu's one of those arts that you can keep going with for ages, as long as your instructors don't mind you adding in stuff from other arts you've learned. Really good base for becoming a very well-rounded martial artist.
I guess i should throw my intro here, does not seem to be many canadians here. I am logged in as panthr1, or james will do. Located in calgary alberta canada I have been involved with Bissett jiu jitsu/jishin-do jiu jitsu for many years, about 1994 i guess. 1996 recieved green belt. there used to be a number of independant clubs operating then issues with the club had it change hands and deteriorate, get sold and then move. there was not really any other traditional self defense system so my practice lapsed. Then took a couple years internet lurking and searching emailing anyone who had trained in this style to get a response to see if there was anyone locals to help get back into training. Much to my suprise i got a email from Kyoshi Bissett ( head of our style)and am now back to my training. although no formal club here i am trying to get people interested and active here again. 1 new member and a couple part time members. I sure enjoy training again and am hoping this fall hold a succesful blue belt test...and maybe some new martial arts friends. Happy to have found this forum as well.
Hello all, My name is Shawn, and I am from Pennsylvania. I just started doing hakko ryu jujutsu ( five or six months now). I am absolutely loving it, just wish i could have started doing it earlier.
Hello All My name is Frank. I've been studying Jukoshin Ryu jiu jitsu for about 6 years, recieved my 1st Dan last year. Before that i studied Can Ryu JJ for about 4 and a half years (brown belt) I also study a ground based style of jiu jitsu similar to BJJ which is based on Goju Ryu JJ (6 years, no ranking) Before that I studied NA kick boxing, boxing, American Freestyle Karate, Chito Ryu and Shotokan Karate. highest rank there being a brown belt in Shotokan.
Dynamic MMA Calgary has started a spot for us to get back to training. Bissett Jiu Jitsu/Tai Jitsu. (japanese Jiu Jitsu) Headed by 2nd dan black belt in our style, so it is not a "attempt" at our style but current curiculum as printed. They understand that not everyone wants to step into the cage, and selfdefence is a concern. so here we are. There were a couple people interested, so here is a update. Out of my basement dojo and into the light. Free to check it out, easy to get to, just off deerfoot in the NE
I have just started doing Tai-Jitsu. Enjoying it a lot. We also do some Yoshin Ryu Ju Jutsu in our normal classes. As an extra, saturdays we are going to start doing the even more traditional Asayama Ichiden Ryu Ju Jutsu.
I'm in Barcelona, Spain. As far as I know it is one of the Kans... It is called Shintaikan dojo. We are under the aegis of sensei Kai Kuniyuki's Yoshin Ryu school. I'm looking forward to seeing him next year. I'm hoping to do a bit of tambo-jutsu too.
