Judo when I was around 6... switched to Karate when I was 14 and continud through most of my twenties. Went on to Aikido in my late twenties and started BJJ and Tai Ji a few years back as well (I'm 33).

Now do mostly Tai Ji and BJJ with some Aikido on occasion. I also train in classical Japanese martial arts... but it's sporadic (since I don't have a teacher locally).

    Good question!
I started Judo when I was a skinny 17 year old. After being taught a single throw, I got thrown around the floor by a HUGE Brown Belt student for six weeks before deciding that it wasn't really my thing. WE didn't get taught how to fall until week 3! The 20 minutes of bunny hops at the start of each lesson and the sign saying "Please Do NOT Bleed on the Mats" also kind of put me off!
I then did nothing MA wise for over 20 years until I started KSW aged 38 to encourage my 6 year old son. Now, 15 years later, I am teaching MA for a living and he doesn't train any more!

I started Judo at eight years of age at my dads Judo club. Tomiki Aikido at fourteen years of age. Taiho Jutsu at twentyone years of age. I still practice all three although Tomiki Aikido is my primary martial art.

    1. a few weeks of kyokushin at age 6, my father forced me to go but I hated it so I quit
    2. wado-ryu karate at age 13, also forced by my father, also hated it at first but I slowly got hooked and I'm still doing it
    3. capoeira at 19 years old, I was obsessed with it for years before that
    4. muay thai, started a few months ago and it has everything my karate dojo lacks so it's a nice compliment for my striking

I'm 23 now and I still have a nice long list of styles I want to try including judo, aikido, BJJ, some Filipino MA and maybe a little TKD and boxing.

23 - Karate (Shotokan/Chito-ryu mix) - still doing it, going for my brown belt actually in a week and a half
23 - BJJ, only did it for a couple of months, class times weren't working for me

I also dabbled in jodo this winter.

I want to try Judo, Ju-Jitsu, and TKD (still debating between ITF and WTF - both are offered at convienient locations for me) in the future. I'm only 25, so I'm still nice and young, so will probably have the opportunity.
