A very Happy Thanksgiving to all our American MAPpers. No matter where you are I hope you got to enjoy the day Mitch
Burp! All feasts of beasts devoured. An aperitif and off to bed. I have to be up earlier than usual for work. Happy Thanksgiving all!
It'as basically "Black Friday Eve". They celebrate the day before Black Friday so the festivities don't get in the way of their online shopping spree.
You're spot on, that. Not content to be Black Friday Eve, they've now desicrated the holiday by actually shopping on Thanksgiving. We saw a line of shoppers standing in the cold outside a dept store last evening on the way to drop mum back off. That had two police units going in, presumably to break up a row between two white, fat suburban cows before it got out of hand. Lot of feverishly pumping hands, they are.
Sadly that is what it's turned into. When I was very young it was a holiday unto itself, and a very big and important holiday. We celebrated family togetherness and the wide scope of thankfulness. And we watched football on tv. The Christmas season began *after* Thanksgiving. Modernly, the Christmas season begins two weeks before Thanksgiving, which effectively means there is no Thanksgiving season. It really does feel like "Black Friday Eve" now.
Online shopping is Cyber-Monday. Thanksgiving gives us fuel to practice muay thai strikes against people trying to get the best deals!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans. Turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and apple pie! Oh, yeah!
I missed this so thank you very much to Aiki for picking it up! A very happy thanksgiving to all my American MAP friends, I wish I could be over there to share it with you Aiki, Aaradia, Narcsarge and Kuma to name but a few. I hope you had a wonderful day surrounded by all those you care about most, and I really hope I get to meet you all in person one day. Best wishes to you and yours my friends
