Tastes a bit like popcorn, doesn't it?

My mother reviles the stuff. Personally, I don't mind, although I have to admit it's an acquired taste.

Now I come to think of it yes it does, was struggling to think what it tasted like! Tried to get my friends into drinking it on holiday but failed miserably.

  4. I once had a weird cup of tea in Russia.
Apparently the leaves are pressed and left for some time to ferment.
They are then used along with milk and butter(!) and pepper(!) to make what I can only describe as being the worst thing I've ever tasted.
I love most sorts of tea, but not with fat and pepper!
    Anyone heard of this?

Nope, but I have a Chinese tea called "Russian Caravan", which apparently hasn't got much to do with Russia.

It's a tea that has been smoked (!). The smell of smoke is overbearing, but you quickly realise when tasting it that it doesn't taste nearly as much as it smells.

    Personally, I like.

I have a mate who brings me huge bags of tea whenever he visits Vietnam.

    The green tea is lush..

The smoked black tea unfortunately tasts as it smells....and the TOS prevents me from any accurate description!! :p :D

I got some proper Pu 'erh tea yesterday from my local merchants. Even though it smells a bit like bricks,it is awesome, made me feel pretty good and has an odd "dry" kind of taste.Anyone tried the pu 'erh tablets of tea?

If you mix 15year old Pu-erh with the right oolong you can make a wonderful blend that my sifu says is the best "Gong Fu Cha".

Last night I had some iced milk tea and it was awesome. I think they made it with condensed milk. Pricey but awesome. :D

Yeah condensed milk is the way to go for Dong Lai Cha... :D
Is that sort of thing pricey in the UK?!

Well it was about £2.25 for a small glass which was mostly ice anyway!

Is that along the lines of Thai Iced Tea? To me, that's one of the best and most addictive substances in the world. I could drink gallons of that stuff at a time. It would probably kill me, but I'd die a very happy man. :D

It's a bit expensive here in the US, but not much moreso than other drinks ordered at restaurants (I've never seen prepackaged Thai iced tea sold to compare restaurant to grocery store prices. The closest I've seen is mixes for making it yourself, and they're never very good).

It might be the same thing as I was in a Thai restaurant at the time. :D

You might have brewed it too strongly. Add more boiling water, swish it and leave to stand. :)

I am now completely obsessed with 8 Treasures of Shaolin tea! It's fruity and just tastes incredibly refreshing. Ingredients:Sencha, Gunpowder, Mini Tuo Tea, Chun Mee, Pai Mu Tan, Lung Ching, Snow Bud, Pi Lo Chun, Pineapple Pieces, Aroma, Strawberry Pieces

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to have given me special Shaolin powers :D
