Really? Obviously wasn't going to do that anyway, but didn't know that. I'll have to google the contemporary definition. I wondered when po-po would be used in the UK. I've heard it on US TV series and guessed it would only be a matter of time before people used it in the UK.
And this is where different languages can get interesting/ funny ^^ Here "popo" is one of the words we use for bum/ behind. And yes, it's an absolute clean word, not an insulting one.
Rozzers - Police Howay - get a move on/come on it's blowing a hooly - it's quite windy Shan - shocking (I feel really shan)
'On fleek' = On point = (very) good Lots of people say 'feds' to refer to the police now despite not being American.
geordie scouse...geordie/lowlands ?? I thought you were looking for modern expressions - most everything ( if ya don't mind an outsiders opinion ) I'm seeing is old as the hills. "Feds", "five-oh", "sick" it is! American is the communal dungheap of slang. BTW, the term "fatty" - disregarding old school ska - the modern meaning breaks the drug reference TOS, so I won't mention it :vanish:
That joke has worn out to the point I genuinely want to nut people who say it. Incidentally, "nut" means headbutt
I have a horrible admission to make that I do use the term "sick" and in my head I do say five oh. I watch far too many American comedians. Feds is only so frustrating to me because we don't have a federal police department so its nonsensical. Most American slang being used here I can deal with as a result of the internetz but that one is annoying. If you're going to steal words, at least steal the ones that make sense.
You think I know what I'm doing? It doesn't have to be new, just in use. Don't the kids say "radical" these days! God, I'm so out of touch.
It may not be modern or cool, but I maintain that numpty is still one of the best words in the English language. Mitch
