    Hi MAP,

I'm looking for a good Hapkido instructor / school in the Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas area. I'm actually located about 30 minutes north of DFW so anything north would be better, but I would be willing to drive into the metroplex for a good school and instructor.

    I've found these two:

    http://koreahapkidousa.com/instructor/
    http://beckmartialarts.com/

What's this community's take on the quality of these instructors? Anyone have personal experience or know of them?

I also saw something like Power Kicks Academy but the name and website make it look like a McDojo for kids; the instructor states he is 7th Dan Hapkido.

Any recommendations? Advice? Experience? Please share. Thanks!

Wouldn't train there. Christian Hapkido that teaches and I quote "Do not retreat from enemy attack". Also "The original mixed martial art". Lol.

The "Christian" based Hapkido may turn some away but that is fine. I have been training with Mr Christina and Instructor Knoor for several years and feel it is an excellent school. Best way to find out is come out and try it. If you don't like it you can continue searching.

I'm not familiar with these particular instructors, but the Jin Jung Kwan has a pretty solid reputation. Might be worth stopping in and trying it out.

Master Beck is pretty well known and he is pretty open about his background (which is a plus). He shares his opinion freely (check out his 'controversial questions pages), with a blend of facts, opinions, and rumors. I've never seen him on the mat, but he seems to have a pretty good reputation. Again probably worth a few trial classes...

Never heard of these guys or their background. A 'hapkido-only' environment can be good though.

My advise would be to go in and do a few classes and see if any fit what you are looking for. Good luck
