    Yes, this is the way they do ich kyo omote now. You wrestle uke down. Osensei wanted you to stretch the loins and enter uke's attack. In effect, uplifting him. The new way comes from Saito, who was already so crippled by the time he was 35, that he couldn't enter the attack.
    That video of osensei showing the basic techniques in the 50s might show it the way I'm talking about.

    I say again, Roadtoad, for the purposes of this article, it doesn't matter what style of ikkyo we're talking about. I picked a picture that was a clear example of the stage of ikkyo that the article talks about, nothing more. You're sidetracking this article.
