Two of them have more than a bachelors (minimum 4 yrs college). One of those, a law degree, and they still had to seek "legal counsel" what is that all about? Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows. BTW, I reside in the locations at least in which one of these persons serves.

If it was up to me, on a $2,000,000 event, that I could save, let's say 2% at the ametuer level, (which is a little better than what some of the major/world banks are paying now), then I would pick a state besides Texas or Deleware to hold my next MMA/ UFC/ PRIDE event.

And I would charge 15% for making that decision!:hat: (Off the net, that is...leaving the gross with...well, you do the math, I already saved you $$$).

Don't forget...if the financing is comming from financial/investment/capital venture firms, then the 2% would at least go to pay back some of the investors...what's the bottom line here?

And I would have understood "black" and "belt" would have included all of the combinations without actually looking for what it was I was seeking. Guess I was also assuming too much that the term "various ways" would also be understood to mean just that, exactly, or kind of in a round about way, almost exactly that......................

Just a quick recap here, for those of you that don't wish to reread the entire thread, this is what I have proposed, and yes, I am always looking for a new means of employment (if you want to know how I answered individually to your replys, then you will have to back track a little):

-How to save $21,500 on your next MMA/UFC event: Don't hold it in the state of Texas, or Delaware.

This agency hereby certifies that the adoption has been reviewed by legal counsel and found to be a valid exercise of the agency’s legal authority.

What? With all of their credentials (those that sit on the board, that have never taken a martial arts class in their lives; just guessing) they couldn't just automatically, and magikally find it to be a valid exercise of the agency's legal authority? They had to actually seek legal counsel? What a joke.

    --see post 461 for credentials

Wouldn't you as a promoter / manager / matchmaker want that money coming into your own pocket? It is pretty clear: in order to increase your profitabilaty, and the money you get to keep in your wallet, don't come to Texas, don't come to Deleware. Yes, some do, but just think what $21,500 means to you...you could pay your fighters more, pay your MDs more, pay the judges more...from what I have seen, $21,500 would go a long way to recruit some extra fighting talent.

-If it was up to me, on a $2,000,000 event, that I could save, let's say 2% at the ametuer level, (which is a little better than what some of the major/world banks are paying now), then I would pick a state besides Texas or Deleware to hold my next MMA/ UFC/ PRIDE event.

I'm sure the "pro" events would have a higher price tag, just referencing the http://www.license.state.tx.us/sports/sports.htm

    website.

-see post 461...not double posting, just allowing feasibility here!

Hapkido is a Korean adaptation of Daito Ryu Aikijutsu, which is also the parent art of Aikido.

koyo Passed away, but always remembered. RIP.

There was a time when many aikidoka attempted to refute the connection between aikido and Daito Ryu.

What you have posted was proven by Stan Pranin author of Aiki Journal.

below is a photograph of O Sensei Ueshiba kneeling in front of the calligraphy saying Daito Ryu.

It was proven that O Sensei trained in daito Ryu for more than ten years. In fact the photo I posted is of the original..some "historians" printed the same photograph with the calligraphy deleted.

    regards koyo

absolutely. many, many similarities. but also differences. i found that after switching to aikido from hapkido, there were many skills i learned that served me well in my new art. the striking, kicking, grappling skills, etc. shihonage, ikkyo, kotegaeshi were all in hapkido, as well as other techniques. the place i studied hapkido had a master who was also a kyukushin practitioner, so we got to learn some of the striking techniques from that art. that was great. i also had some judo friends in hapkido so we rolled all the time.

principles are the same always. get off the line, strike them to unbalance or end it, apply technique if necessary. just a bit different application of the same principles.

what's unbelievable to me is that you're still caught up in this. you're sitting there parsing minute semantics. when clearly, practically everyone here and the whole freakin' world knows the meaning of "combat sports". this is your debate...

    combat sports does not exist
blah blah blah blah, i'm not listening

you need to read some noam chomsky or something. i'll just copy a relevant tidbit from the chomsky wikipedia article...

    combat + sports...get it now?

below is the triangular entry to make kote gaeshe including the atemi to counter any secondary attack and to unbalance the attacker. Too many aikidoka spin around the attack and grab the thrust which is left out there for them (wrong)

Next the attacker would be unbalanced over the edge of his foot. NOT spun round in a circle.

The secrets of aikido are in the triangles. Quoted by saito Shihan.

Okay people I think this thread has been off topic for long enough. Could we please stop getting wrapped up in semantics and get to answering the original question.

Aikido is a self defence art. Even if the attacker is stronger than you if you have the confidence to enter escaping his attack then the strikes you would use would most likely be disallowed in MAM competition.

The principle is to attack 100% with little concern about defending and destroy the attacker within moments. If both competitors in MMA used this using any attack they wish to..both would be injured.

I have seen irrimi (entry) used excellently in MMA and versions of irrimi nage and juji nage.

Self defennce is quite different from competition and I have seen guys who studied competition engaging in real fights and they instictively threw aside any rules so as to survive.

If you are young and strong MMA can be excellent for you. If you want to be effective in a real fight I suggest cross training which would include competative arts.

Sure, aikiwolfie...perhaps another reason you don't see many aikidoka in MMA / UFC is that it does not pay enough. In many of the dojo I have been to, the practitioners in those dojo are mostly professionals, well into their careers and many of them earn significantly more than they would fighting before being given the opportunity to sign a contract. It just wouldn't be an attractive sum of money.
