Hi all, I am a 23 years old and I conscious about my fitness. I just need to know whether massage therapy massage therapy (Link Deleted) has any role in maintaining fitness. Does anyone here had ever tried massage therapy as a part of their fitness program? Kindly share your experiences.
Welcome to MAP. Mod Note: A discussion about massage therapy is fine. However the link to the massage therapy business has been deleted- as well as the one in your signature. A link in your signature is allowed, but only once you have a posting history here that shows you are an active participant here. Thanks!
The research highlighting the benefits of manual therapy (including soft tissue massage) is substantial; there is however paucity of evidence supporting the proposed mechanisms that elicit benefits. Active individuals (especially martial artists) will probably find it useful to receive even occasional manual therapy treatments, if only for the preventative factor.
I partake in a two types of massage therapy work: - anywhere from ~once a week to ~once every 2 months I get a 60-90 minute full body massage. Frequency depends on how much time I have and how my body is doing overall. I tend to carry a few minor injuries most of the time (minor muscle pulls/strains generally), and getting them worked on does seem to help me recover faster. - specific therapeutic massage (different than most general massage techniques, these go very deep into the muscle compared with traditional massage, even deeper massage techniques like ashiatsu) by therapists who are skilled at finding the root of muscle issues, or determining whether something isn't a muscle issue. This is somewhat expensive. However, they are an order of magnitude beyond what I get from the highly skilled regular masseuses I use. I go here for persistent problems that aren't healing fast enough for me (or not seeming to heal at all). I've found massage helpful for maintaining my body & recovering faster from injuries.
When I Google your name and massage, I get news stories about "parlors" being raided, ranked above your own site. Just a Heads up!
Hi, Tell your massage therapist about any alternative practice you use. Explain to them properly on what you have done to in maintaining your fitness. This will help them to ensure coordinates and safe care
