Soldiers in Purple and Pink
By Kinjiro Tsukasa
Hordes of warriors in purple, fuchsia, and pink
The bravest fighters I know grow in my garden today
Their aviators take off for the sky, climbing the fence of freedom
The infantry close ranks behind, choking off the enemy
They fearlessly risk death in their struggle to perpetuate themselves
Their numbers are legion; the more are killed, the more rise to take their place
Their mortal foe, the spade, the rake, the hoe
They wage battle in a campaign for maturation
Their valiant mission, to leave behind the seeds of next year's army
The spoils of victory lying dormant until a new year's sun calls them to war again
These doughty blooms, called forth to be the morning's glory
