Yes! It's called Sanda/Sanshou. You can see it's just MMA without the ground game.

This clip is more demo than a real fight: http://johnswang.com/Taiwan_sc_5.wmv

This is a real fight: http://johnswang.com/Sanshou_1.wmv

The problem may be your computer cannot play the WMV format. There are no avi files available.

But i take traditional kung fu, pai lum dragon style, so this could be for more "modernized" kung fu.

As long as you can use your TCMA in this environment, there is no such thing as "modernized kung fu". No matter what style that you train, you should have a set of effective tools in your toolbox.

No problem. It's your thread after all. I can understand that some teachers with traditional mind may not like this format. The concern that you have may be a general problem for all Chinese martial arts styles.

My sifu is ok with these things but sifu gaeono (he is the head sifu) does not like it.

i will bet there will be some sparring when my future testing comes around and i know i get to spar with sifu once i get my next belt, and pre- testing is the second Saturday of next month, then the real testing is gonna be in February, it will be awesome but i have half the time to train (it takes 6 months on average, and i have 1 month of training and 2 to go)

If I were you, I'll try to find some sparring partners (people from other styles) outside of class.
