When I was younger (ha ha)
I used to get together with friends and work out on the weekends. I enjoyed it greatly. I think what is missing from many artists these days is the ability to "work out" with other artists from different styles. I came from Tae Kwon Do (in a garage with no heat in the winter and no AC in the summer!), my friends all came from "formal" schools-Kuk Sool Won, Hakko ryu Jujitsu, Aikido, Kickboxing. We loved to spar and learn about each others art. I miss those days, perhaps attitudes have changed? I read a thread recently about cross ranking and seminars. I never would claim to be qualified to teach anything other than what I am trained and certified to teach. It is very helpful though to have some background in what other arts teach and do. I'm a sponge, or in some circles, a martial arts nerd. If there are any Illinois (or Indiana/Iowa) based martial artists out there who would like to get together-via email...I would love to get back to those "days"...
