The tanbo is very similar to the escrima if I'm not mistaken, but I'm basing my opinion on this web site.http://www.sakura-0.com/tanbojutsu001.htm
My Goju school encorporates the escrima into it's weapons curiculam and we have 2 katas that utilize one and two sticks. Just by the fact we are traditionaly based Goju suggests to me that our escrima katas would be very tanbo like, because of the stances that we use.

When I studied Shotokan, we also did Okinawan Kobudo on the side. We were taught a weapons kata called Nintan(sp) bo-shodan, which utilized eskrima sticks, which I suppose would be called the tanbo. I have the kata on video, but it's not very good, as it was done on the beach, and the person doing it was shadowed(time of day it was shot).

Like gojuman stated, it would be very tanbo like cause of the stance work, as well as the method of manipulating the sticks, unlike in the FMA method.
