Cutthroats and shaving badgers Now that I have your attention... Last time I posted on straight razor shaving it generated considerable interest. Not only in the lost art of straight razor (AKA a cutthroat - though not to be confused with the trout of the same name) shaving but also in how tough one has to be to shave a badger to get a badger hair shaving brush. So here is a short clip on how to shave. The video is an amatuer video but the guy knows his basic technique well... a good starting place for those of you that want to learn how to save with a straight razor... http://s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=31RV8QS0CSJ5D3OCUGMBSHU38C As for those hard men that wrassle badgers and shave them so that some of us can sleep easy with the thought of no badger being harmed in the making of them brushes... I'm still waiting for more info... but at least here is the fruit of their labors. Shaving beavers is a whole other angle. I'll see what I can dig up. http://coolshaving.com/category_results.cfm?Category=7 Enjoy... and just a bit of eye candy... note the superb craftsmanship on the Dovo - Bismark...
And here is a short bit on someone who uses a straight razor for self defense. Hmmm... truly a dual purpose piece of kit. source: http://www.self-defense.info/author_gs.html
Nuff respect to you slip for coming up with original threads... But crikey mate...you can be a bit weird at times... I am pleased to see that no animals were hurt for these shaving implements - it says the animals were sheared like a sheep would be. I have a hard job imagining shorn badgers though I have to say. I mean - how do they look like badgers when you can't see the distintive markings of one:
I'm aiming to please a large cross section of MAP members.. That's just how I am. Cheers for that picture of the badger. Much appreciated. Below is another use for a straight razor all together. Tibetan auspicious symbols carved into ones body for scarification purposes. Ouch. EDIT: image removed - sorry peeps I was pushing the envelope here a tad. I've changed the image to one that is generally agreeable...
Hi Slip, I've moved this to Off Topic, also can you please stop multiple posting, there is an edit button for a reason.
Thanks for the move Freeform. The reason I posted multiple times is because I can't fit all the images into one post. It was all relevant to the thread so what was I supposed to do?
Every time you use a badger-hair shaving brush the terror badgers will come to haunt you in your sleep. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/flash/badgers.html
I hate shaving, I'd make all my facial hair disappear if I could. The dept I work for makes it mandatory to have no facial hair except a trimmed moustache.....
aww sure ya do. I'll repost it... but I need to find out how to put a link and and a warning on the shot.
ERR, No I don't and I'm not associated to you. I want to have access to posting and not get sin-binned.
