Chum Kiu

Has anyone got any links to sites that give breakdown of Chum Kiu, Ip family flavour?

Something like this http://www.wingchuninteractive.com/site.html that helped me learn the sequence of moves in SNT would be great.

Yeah, it would probably be better learning it from your sifu. Chum Kiu seems to vary a fair bit even within lineages. I've seen some that do 3 double ding saos at the start, others do just one. Then with the turning and double lan sao, some schools do 3 turns, others turn once "set" and then turn 3 times, making 4 altogether. I've heard of people who have studied under Yip Chun for quite a while doing the transition from double low bong sao to double tan sao with a different energy to what I'm used to.

In general, it seems to vary a lot more between schools than Siu Nim Tao does.

I did intend to learn it that way :-)
I just wanted to get a bit ahead.

Billy won't show you Chum Ku until he feels your Si Lim Tau is good enough. There is a point to this.

He has started showing me. But I was stood in the middle of a group of students who knew what they were doing and attempting to follow them, badly a couple of steps behind all the way through .

I need to practice out of class just to get the sequence right in my head, then when I'm in class I can focus on and get advice on the detail.

You can do either or both of the two things I did.

1. Pick a segment each class and stick to it. Practice only the first section, get it down and then move on.

2. Take a private lesson. This is good as you can learn all the applications at the same time which for me, makes it easier to remember.
