Never heard of Nanbudo before - looks like okinawan karate crossed with tae-kwon-do. What's the kata that the guy's doing in the "junior" video?

The Kata called Seipai.

Below is a very brief history of Nanbudo
Nanbudo's founder Yoshinao Nanbu was a rather famous and sucessfull karate student of master Tani, he was one of the 1st to bring karate out of Japan and into Europe in the mid 1960s.
(search for yoshinao nanbu in any search engine)
His MA history includes aikido I believe he was a 6th Dan,
Judo a 3rd Dan, Kendo
Kendo
and many traditional karate styles with various degrees of black belt.
In the 70s he founded Sankukai Karate which later eveolved into Nanbudo.
Nanbudo now a days is till evolving and incorporates moves similar to karate, aikido, judo.
As well as genki and ki-nagari excercises for health reasons.

Interesting Katas, the junior one reminds me of a Hapkido form and the others look a bit Chinese. Reminds me of the Chil Sung forms from Tang Soo Do.

By "full contact karate" do you mean that you actually try and seriously injure your friends in training? Or that your competitions are Mortal Kombat style blood-fests?

I am more than positive that these kata's were not done to competition spec and were just taken for fun at a light hearted training session.

I am also more than sure that these Kata's when done in a competition can look pretty impressive.

After all if competition is all we are after then try a sport like tennis and not a martial art.

I was thinking of the Mortal Kombat blood-fest tourneys when i said full-contact karate. What i asked for was wheter kyokushinkai is the only style of karate that holds full-contact tourneys...?

(Hope thats clear enough, im terrible at typing in english )

Shouldn't the videos show the spirit and proper execution of techiniques?

In the junior kata video he steps with traditional toes first touching the floor style stepping but sometimes he steps like normal walking. The girl steps most(if not all the steps) like normal walking.

Do you train both methods?
Is eather prefered?

Many Offshoots of Kyokushin compete in Knockdown type tournaments. The Term Full Contact reminds me of the early days of Full Contact Karate which became kickboxing. As you know Knockdown is different again in that it is Bare Knuckle and as such blows to the face with the hand or arm are forbidden. Ashihara. World Oyama and Seido all fight knockdown and as far as I know the rules are similiar to Kyokushin.
