I think (As Kurai Unkai so elaborately lectures to us in one of his postings on this thread
) -that there's hardly any combination that can be said to be the ultimate one. I both train and lecture on the longsword (I regard a claymore and a longsword to be the same), and it's not the easiest thing to wield... I like your idea of having the left hand free, though, Fiore del Liberi teaches us several techniques where you take your left hand and starts doing wrestelingtechniques while using the longsword for stabbing/cutting one-handed after "you've entered the cross". I'd skip the spike, though, or not have it long. A pyramide-shaped knot, max. Why? -For the same reason why vikings never had horns on their helmets! Imagine somthing cathcing on the spike; it will either turn your vambrace around, break it, or in the worst case make your arm twitch so that it breaks or gets bruised. Kurai Unkai: You talk about sickles; is that the same style as the assyrian/syrian/egyptian "Khopesh", or are we talking about some asian sample? |

Let me apologize for taking so long to get back to you. To answer your question, I'm talking about a slightly modified Asian sickle. I like to add a handguard and prefer a straighter edge than most sickles, and try also to reinforce the handle with a strip of metal to increase its durability. A sturdy Khopesh with a deep enough curve would suffice for the task, though, provided the cutting edge was on the concave, and not the convex side of the blade. The reason for this is that I usually use the sickle to intercept an incoming weapon (or hand/arm if I can get close enough fast enough). The concave side of the Khopesh could stop and trap an incoming weapon, but the convex edge would allow the weapon to be deflected either into my hand or into my face (which isn't the effect that I'm looking for).

Well for effective ness id say
Duel glock19s with modded mags connected to old Tommy gun drums (it can be done!) For fun id say: Duel katanas Duels sai Duel ku-sari-gama (sickle with long chain and a weight at the end, any one who can wield two at once is beyond me) Duel daggers Duel shrikan Duel 3 sections staff (again impossible) 18 throwing knives (3 in-between each finger) And the coop de grace Two katana put together so that the blades are about an inch apart! THAT would be SWEET two cuts for one, the ability to break others a sword if they get caught in between what’s not to love?

Though I'm not adept at it a 9-sectional whip chain and a broadsword work very nice. My favorite though is the fan and dagger, what can I say I'm all about being sneaky.

I could just as easily deflect a strike with one hand and slice your stomach with the other as I could cut into your collarbone with a two-hand downward strike. Well, not maybe just as easily, but it's still entirely possible. Quote:

for flashyness twin hookswords
for more flashyness a double-edged clawed gauntlet and a shortened double bladed naginata(with long blades, one facing in one direction and the other in the other direction), custom weapons RULE! for even MORE flashyness, a katar(AKA punch dagger) and a double-bladed hooksword, again custom weapons RULE! for effectiveness no idea, i think of those three the twin hookswords would be the most effective in terms of "ability=effectiveness"
