Wing chun vs. Karateka

I've been seeing a little wing chun bashing in this forum,s o I thought I'd post this bareknuckle wing chun vs karateka. The wing chun guy sort of dominates the karateka. I think wing chun would be a good system to learn.:evil:

Oh and I do not practice wing chun.

Also looked like typical Chun flailing weak punches.

 

Wing Chun "sort of" dominates nothing but Wing Chun vs videos.

And no Wing Chun doesn't get bashed on MAP. It just doesn't get the blind respect and devotion that has become a constant staple of its proponents, especially when compared to other kung fu styles that seem to do fine in mixed competitions without whining about "rules" and theorycrafting about how WC can be used to counter every possible martial art technique known to man.

The best Wing Chun trainees don't make these sorts of videos. They are too busy learning and don't waste their time creating this Internet "vs" garbage.

 

Well, I like watching these kinds of videos. I like to see art vs art rather than mixed martial arts fights. I don't know why, it's just my preference.

 

Where was the Karate then?

 

Mixed martial art is art vs art, and always has been.

Instead of 1 art vs 1 art....you often get 2 vs 2 or sometimes even 3 vs 3

 

What I meant is I enjoy watching one art vs one art rather than 3 vs 3 or 2 vs 2. Just what I like watching. Like the old days.

Dag. That wing chun guy got plastered.

 

The point is, the one in the first video wasn't any more effective, he just looks it as he made a lot of movements and the karate guy fell over.

 

It's not WC bashing. It's the attitude that they have. When you suggest that WC

- Bong Shou can be used as elbow strike.
- Tan Shou can be used as arm wrap.
- Fu Shou can use used as wrist control.
- should add hook and uppercut into their system.
- should train both "guard center from inside out" and "guard center from outside in".
- should integrate grappling into their system since the WC sticky hands is already half way there.
- ...

Some WC guys will always say:

- We don't do this in WC.
- This is against WC principle.
- This will be a water down on the WC system.
- Whatever that you have suggested, it's not WC.
- ...

It's their "close mind" that we are discussing here.
