Hey guys, my first post here. What would you guys recommend to gain strength and power quickly, but avoid getting bigger, I want to gain as little actual mass as possible.

The strength of a muscle fibre is proportional to it's cross-sectional area.

Strength = size. Get over it. Lift big weights.

I don't mind getting really toned and ripped, I just don't want to get big and bulky.

isometric workouts will get you very strong but not bulky, and teh cross section of a muscle has no beariong on how strong you are.

I know lots of people who have bigger muscles than me and i can lift twice as much as they can and for more repetitions.

isometric workouts are trying to move an imovable object has hard as possible.

high rep low weight resistance training. it improves speed plus dynamic muscles, and it packs one hell of a punch.

You main motivation may not be getting a date...but it will definitely be an added bonus.

I never really found the shallow women who only look at looks to be ones I would want to date.

No - it improves endurance and can reduce speed.

Who is faster - olympic marathon runner or olympic sprinter?

    Look at their physiques.

    Get it?

A marathon runner is faster in a marathon.

    Silly me. :D

Personally, I think it is more in the technique.

I've seen some little blokes (and women - come to think of it), that could flatten an elephant with their punch, and all because they had GOOD technique.

It's not easy to bulk up, you know. It takes a long time, a lot of weights, and a lot of protein. Just lift heavy, and if you actually feel like you're bulking up too much (you won't), then don't lift as often.
