What the hell are Team GB thinking? Cook is the no.1 fighter in his weight category right now. If this was any other country he'd be chosen. But no, the coaches got egg on their faces because he proved their methods were hurting his career, and now they're getting back at him. They need to realize their decision is about more than their own egos. It's about national pride. Seriously hope they change their minds. Disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful!

Wow. Every year I dislike the Olympics and the whole absurd process more and more. Not that I was ever a huge fan in the first palce. This is a classic example of lame politics ruining sport.

    What the hell?
Cook is a brilliant athlete - I was counting on cheering for him this summer! If he doesn't go, I might actually abandon my current plans (to spend every waking minute watching the olympic taekwondo over those 4 days).
    What an absolutely shocking decision!

It's disgusting to be sure, sadly it's also an example of how TKd is getting smashed up by this kind of BS.
Thing is, can we actually DO anything to sort this?

The Olympics are overly commercialized now, anyways...

    I'll still watch fencing, though.

Something has already been done, albeit not by any governing body within TKD itself. Sadly.

That "over commercialisation" funds the Olympics.

Some view Olympic TKD as ruining the martial art. But it is publicly funded and therefore means those associations responsible for athlete development are held accountable to a higher governing power (in this case, the BOA). This is something sorely lacking in non-Olympic TKD associations. The political culture of the art is almost to be expected these days. Why should it?
