    Hey Guys

Quick question any recommendations for gum shields? I'm just getting into my TWD sparring and being a newbie I'm obviously getting hit a fair amount and want to upgrade to a decent shield.

    Cheers Kev

It might be an obvious point but get a proper molded one rather than a boil and bite. I got mine from Opro and it cost me somewhere under 50 quid for their top impact one and they were quick getting it processed, shield is comfy and snug, and I've never had any issues with it. And I've been knocked out in it square on the mouth and didn't lose any teeth so I guess that's a seal of approval? :p

I get mine from http://www.gumshields.com/ and they last a good couple of years each, plus you can have fun customised one. You probably want their "Extra Thickness" if people are going to punch your face.

I'm using a boil and bite (Shock Doctor). is there any danger of my chipping a tooth or something in boxing? I only spar at about 40% MAXIMUM? Should I really consider a custom one? I do LOVE my teeth!!!

Fitted ones are much much better, its well worth the investment!

You should also be able to get a custom one done by your dentist. Mine cost me about £40

I have several. Custom one from the dentist is a bit tthick for every day training in my opinion.

I like my shock dr a lot.

My work horse old faithful was a last minute boil and bite for 2 bucks. It just fits right
I have never lost a tooth.
My advice is to try a couple diffrent styles.

Opro and Shock Doctor are the ones!

Although my cheap Tapout gumsheild lasted me years.
