I've heard Kiesza live and she's pretty awesome, I love this video. I think it has a quirky 90s vibe and the video goes so well with the music. Deep Purple - Knockin' at Your Back Door Greatest hits of the 80's plus classic live tracks. Great cd Depeche Mode - Violator This is the cd that turned me onto DM. Still one of the best. Enjoy the Silence, Personal Jesus, World in my Eyes.
For aaradia: A...little weird. Glam rock meets 'the Crazy World of Author Brown' in some ways. "House of the Rising Sun" is good. Great vocals - similar to Eric Burden, just needed a different musical arrangement. Thanks for posting those Belltoller! I always wondered about that band. (Although apparently never thought about it when near a computer to google it.) Not too impressed. It isn't horrible, just not great either. Or maybe just not my cup of tea. Never much of a glam rock fan. Seemed more typical early 70's rock than glam though. I definitely think Johnson made a good career move as I don't think this band (even if he had stayed with them) would have ever gotten close to AC/DC's success or longevity. Is it me or has Brian Johnson's voice changed some since those days? More gravely now? That remake of "House of the Rising Sun" is not that great. Again, not terrible either. I much prefer the Animals version. Speaking of Eric Burdon. I have an old bootleg vinyl of him singing in a small club with Jimi Hendrix the night Hendrix died. Two or three songs of the album are from that night. I hope it still plays well! Haven't listened to it in decades. I didn't even realize it was from that night until reading a biography on Hendrix. They described the night he died and I said "wait that bootleg has songs of him with Burdon in that club!" It even, according to that biography, has the VERY LAST SONG Hendrix played EVER in his life! I really ought to take that to one of those digital conversion places and get that in an MP3 or something. And no, I don't feel bad about buying bootlegs because I usually only bought bootlegs when I already had all the official albums by that artist. So, it wasn't cutting into their sales.
Ok, so I just looked up glam rock artists and glam rock isn't what I thought of as glam rock. Apparently, I don't really know what that is. Gonna have to read up more on what is considered glam rock now.
I prefer the more gravely vocals. Especially the Louise Armstrong - shot out with the flu - live recordings. That's actually when you can hear them split-octaves spontaneously. Brian's voice is haggard now - but - it still is able to reach the pitch - which is amasing - Bon Scott as well. A lot of singers don't bother when they are live - which is why too many of them sound monotone and loungey when they sing live. You should definitely preserve the Hendrix/Burdon - I hate the word 'bootleg' - Moment - the Hendrix/Burdon moment.
Yeah, for the record- gravely isn't a bad thing. Just noticing the difference. I think his voice has held up amazing well over time. I honestly have wondered about how many recording are out there of Hendrix's last night. It was apparently some really small club being played for a fun jam session. Not a major concert gig. I honestly wonder what other recordings there are surviving from that night. It wasn't advertised as a bootleg with songs of his last night, so I don't think the bootlegger knew. It may be REALLY REALLY rare. As in, I don't know if there were any offical recordings of that night. If it is this rare, I really should get it out there. Something like that should not be lost in the dreggs of my closet with my other collectable LP's. (anyone else here old enough to remember picture discs? Lol!) I bought it in my teens or early 20's in an old funky record shop. I suppose I should research/ google and see if it really is a rare thing or not. See if I can dig up the biography with the info. (I do work in a Library, I should be able to find it.) I mean, if I really have one of the few surviving recordings of the last song he ever did, sheesh, that is actually a pretty big deal from a music history perspective. Writing this makes me think I really should have looked more seriously into this a long time ago. First, I suppose I should buy a new needle for my LP player (which hasn't been used in decades) and see if the thing still works......... dang, I know you have to be able to buy record needles somewhere still---right? Edit- Nevermind the above ramblings! It seems a full nights recording of this performance is on youtube. It was the day before he died. So good, it is already out there. Lol! a 2 minute google search ended me wondering about this for decades. Why didn't I do this before? I think this means it is past time for me to go to bed!

Been following Lindsey Stirling for some time now (around the time she released this tune): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRPOztxXWlQ"]Spontaneous Me -Lindsey Stirling (original song) - YouTube[/ame] So to watch her go from an American Idol reject being told by Piers Morgan that she would never amount to much and was a one-trick pony, to her latest tune with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, signed by the same record company that once managed Lady Gaga and has a bigger following on YT than stars like Rihanna I still think is incredibly impressive. Def Lepperd - Pyromania Not a huge Def Lep fan but this is a great cd.This album came out when MTV was still pretty new( and actually played music videos) And these vids were on constant rotation. You couldn't go to a high school keg and bong party in '83 without this album being part of the soundtrack.
