Human Evolution: Book recs?

    Can anyone recommend any books about human evolution? I wouldn't mind reading up on the subject. Preferably modern texts and for the lay man. Dawkins, although I agree with a lot of his opinions (or does he agree with mine?), gets on my nerves a bit. I'd rather read something else.

    There's a ton of book out there, but where do I start? It's a big area.

    I'm also not interested in the evolution vs. creationism debate. Just thought I'd bold that...It'll still probably be ignored.

    I do not know if Steve Jones has written a book on human evolution but he is definitely the acceptable face of genetics for those who find Dawkings a bit of a pain (and who doesn't).
