So here's a question for you Americans, I have the opportunity to get dual citizens ship, Canadian/Amurican but im not sure if it's worth the hassle? Then their is the tax thing... what would be the pros and cons of being a dual citizen? Sell me your country, cousin.
*waits for Ero to log on* To be fair, any country that comes up with Canadian bacon and mooses/meese/flock of/gaggle of/herd of/you know what I mean is alright in my book. EDIT: Seriously though, this is something I'm actually rather curious about.
I'll get to this later. This is a rather serious question looking for legit, life impacting decisions that can benefit or harm the OP. How about you calm your pecs there for a bit bud. Shame on you, like April 4 Thursday! p) Bet you weren't expecting that reply were you.
We share a pretty open border as it is. What exactly are the benefits and shortcomings of a dual citizenship? I imagine the reason most people do it are for work related issues. Unless you're constantly traveling back and forth for work, I'm not exactly sure what the benefits of a dual citizenship would be. From what I've browsed online so far, the benefits are more oriented towards being an American getting a dual citizenship with Canada, and not a Canadian citizen become a dual citizen in the U.S.. Your tax life is going to get a lot worse. It's not like we have a lot of great benefits in general here. Our country kind of sucks in that regard, socialism in all forms being super evil and everything. If you plan on running for a political office or starting some kind of business it might help, but other than that it doesn't look like something worth while to do.
I wouldn't want to be associated with a country that produced Justin Beiber. I say produced because he has to be scientifically produced. There's no way anyone would willingly admit to giving birth to that. In all seriousness Canada is a cool country. I like "most" Canadians.
Exactly. I'm trying to steer Pseudo away from bad life choices. For those who don't realise (ya dumbasses), I'm being satirical. I love American. And Canada - my inlaws live in Montreal (poor them). They're both good countries (when compared to North Korea or France). It's just that Britain is the best country (not satire).
No he's not people! He's a 'Merikuhn Canuck hating communist nazi from France living in N. Korea who litters. He leaves the faucet on for the full duration of brushing his teeth in the morning too! Pure evil!

Faucet?! Ugh, I hate Americanisms. Like how we say "car park" because cars get parked there. You say parking lot, but it can't be because you park your car lots because Americans are never out of their vee-hickles. Heck, you have drive-thru BANKS!
I have quite a bit of family in Arizona and new hampshire, my old mans also talking about getting a summer home in Arizona. The only concern I have is you government and tax policy. I know my dad had to pay american taxes even tho he hasn't worked in the states in about 20 years.
