I don't really like martial arts movies, except for the the old Hong Kong ones, and particularly Jacki Chan. I love the body control, what I would call "clowning skills", and I've always felt it takes much more skill than your average "serious" fight scene. Here's a good short video about what makes him great, in terms of film making. The channel is generally good at breaking down what makes a scene work in films. They have a good one about Kurosawa too. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1PCtIaM_GQ"]Jackie Chan - How to Do Action Comedy - YouTube[/ame]
It comes under the lesser known Jackie Chan films. I don't know why because it is literally one of the best JC films ever
I'll have to try and find it! (There is one on YouTube, but the quality is awful and the comments say the fights have been speeded up to avoid the copyright bots finding it).
Heres a very long and old video interview between JC and Jonathon Ross. This is when JC was just being broken into the Western cinema and talks about the Armour of God accident (he lost part of his skull) https://youtu.be/U6m3kNFjdTs
I had a lot more that was cut out. I spent majority of my time with Ken Lo and Brad Allen but I had the odd moment sitting and chatting with JC. This was 1999, so cameras and phones were basic back then, so no photos
I remember that series!! It introduced me to Jackie Chan (Maybe), Russ Meyer, Ed Wood, El Santo, Blue Demon and lucha libre. It was a great series, so glad it's on YouTube...I'll be up all night now. Yeah. They used to show the episode then put a film on after, usually related to the film Ross was discussing. And IIRR a really off-beat Canadian comedy followed that called Four on the Floor. Good times!
"Boot to the head!" This was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen when I was a kid: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfMcxmOBmpk"]The Frantics Last Will and Temperment [Better Audio] - YouTube[/ame]
Yeah, that definitely left a memorable image! So, I watched the '94 Drunken Master. It was okay, but nowhere near as good as the original for me.
