i've tried it. it's ok. a little too much for me. i've made it with 8 oz. coffee and 2 tablespoons of butter. but saying that. i like to put a very small pat of butter in my coffee--pretty regularly. adds a nice creaminess to the drink.
It's just the american attempt at mongolian tea! A hot tea with a spoon of heavy and rich yak butter.
I know someone who's lived in Mongolia, and apparently they like to leave the butter until it goes pretty rancid before putting it in their tea.
I always wanted to try that tea! Saw it in a film once (about a young Tibetan monk, wanting to watch the World cup) IIRC, there was a powder, a big clump of butter and then the tea. Served in a bowl and the guy used his hand to mix it.
Still gotta try it though. I've eaten weirder stuff from around the World. Insects and maggots, I refuse to try. (maggot cheese for example)
My inlaws would take us to restaurants whenever we visited them in Hong Kong. Posh restaurants there serve such delicacies as giant centipedes and water beetles, amongst other exotic foods. I drew the line at sheep's penis, however. Yeah...I did say that One of my favourites was from the blue-eyed street vendors far north of Beijing - sauteed scorpion. It warn't bad a'tall. Tasted like ... chicken.
if you're a coffee drinker, try putting a little butter in. not much, just a sliver. gives it a nice sheen, adds a little fat and creaminess. just makes it more delicious. mmmmm....butter
mmmmm....clogged arteries. But butter can't be any worse than whatever Starbucks puts in their lattes - which I'm now completely, hopelessly addicted to.
I've been trying it out for the last couple of days, my usual ground coffee, some grass fed butter and some virgin coconut oil. I must admit it's absolutely delicious and very comforting. It did seem like I had increased concentration and brain power, could very well be placebo, but the biggest deal was the appetite suppressant part. I had left over dominoes pizza, and chicken wing goodies, and usually I want this asap. I didn't even feel the urge.
