    Mouthwash does it for me.

Which mouthwash? Do you mix it in a glass first and leave the gum shield in?

Put it in a glass and leave it for a night. Any mouthwash. I use alcoholic ones.

    I use denture cleaning tablets.

cheaper and more effective then anything else.

After you use them once you'll realise how insanely dirty your mouth guard was.

Could you really use soap and water to wash it? Isn't that bad for dental hygiene and the shield? I could just use the antibacterial hand wash - this would be the most convenient and quick process....

Thanks for all the replies guys
ps why can't you thank posts anymore?

Quick and convenient isnt the same as thorough and clean.

literally a ten minute soak does the job to an acceptable level

Mushroom De-powered to come back better than before.

I use mouth wash and brush it using my toothbrush. (its my own mouth, so no issues there)

I dread to think how much bacteria is on my gumshield. It's just stuck at the bottom of my bag for weeks on end. :D

This is what I do. I brush them with my toothbrush, then soak them overnight in mouthwash.

I like the denture cleaning tabs idea though. I think I will try that!

In addition to cleaning your gumshield make sure you clean the case in which it's kept.

You can use regular dishwashing detergent for this and make sure it's dry before putting your gumshield back.

Finally don't soak overnight. 1 hour maximum to avoid degrading the material it's made out of.

I use either denture tablets or Milton/a generic sterilising fluid.

I have a lower gumshield from the dentist (to stop me grinding my teeth at night) and was told to wash that in regular anti-bac soap.
So I do my martial arts one like that too. And then the odd bit of straight tooth paste just in case it starts to taste soapy.
