Are there non-scripted forms of wrestling that use the same sort of 3-rope ring used in pro wrestling? Just curious.
Pancrase, which was (mostly) real fights under a bizarre pro wrestling ruleset, used to: https://youtu.be/J8neJDeiYsA
Good old early days of Pancrase. Where you can't have closed handed strikes (like in Proresu - also Bas Rutten vs Frank Shamrock)) and you can tape up your legs to the point where you were pretty much in leg casts. (Enson Inoue vs Randy Couture)
Protection for the shin and ankle. Kind like handwraps before you put your gloves on. You still see it for the ankles in MMA much like they have in Muay Thai. But because Pancrase (and most vale tudo/MMA) events had very lapse rules back then, they just did whatever. Enson Inoue essentially asked the promoters can he wrap his shins....they said yes it was allowed, so when he went up against Randy Couture, he did a Ali/Inoki strategy. Lay on the floor, butt scootch and kick the thighs and he wrapped them extra thick as well.
