Without the proper angle (basically straight forward) and without a block behind the leg you are climbing (your leg/foot) and without their knee flush against your body, that'climbing' is flawed from the point of its initial structure and you are going to get smashed. I'm not saying it's impossible to do, just very poorly implemented and technically flawed in the video to the extent it's too low percentage to really try when better options are just as readily available ie proper low single or stand in base.
That's where the single leg comes in, When all their weight on one leg, great, someones about to get hit by a planet. You'd of thought the coach being a BJC judo black belt would have a knowledge of leg pickups.
That is the old version, he's also done a very strange clinch to get into the throw, he actually let go of the guy completely for a second there and if he was actually bothering to resist it wouldnt have worked.
Head and overwrap is classic judo, And it works for rousey a lot! BUT the angle of the throw isnt ideal, meh re rousey - https://vimeo.com/100834256
That what i mean the cinch is fine but the movement from that neutral thinking man to that overwrap there is a gap.
He did police judo(i assume its just judo with the hats on) ive heard and was a policeman for 17 years.
I think year three is the ground stuff and obligatory batman catchphrase test. Where are the other drugs going?! Where the Joker?! Swear to me! But seriously I've been looking into integrating some BJJ and other stuff into my training just because i appear to have caught the martial arts bug.
