I'm just saying because you know even Mike Tyson thought he was unstoppable until Holyfield knocked him out in 1996. It's just that in boxing it's hard for someone as champion to retire a champion, and much could be said for the world of MMA fighting as well.
Seriously though, there's no real way to know on this one. She is currently looking incredibly strong though in her overall game, but she's not infallible. Then again, she could just have a crap night one time and get her butt handed to her.
I think she'll be fine in this fight. She's going up against someone who's a solid striking specialist and used to being hit so she's not going to employ the same tactic as her last fight (steamrollerbrawlerexpress). I reckon what we're going to see is a very safe Rousey going to ground early and winning by submission. I don't think she's going to want to get into a slugging match. But this is UFC, anything can happen. I think Rousey is a safe bet though. It's like Connor McGregor at the moment, he's an entertaining cash cow for the sport but we've yet to see him really matched equally in my honest opinion.
Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front!
People need to stop hyping up Holly Holm and view her in the context of her achievements - she's a talented boxer within boxing, and a pretty good MMA fighter against no-name fighters. In the context of facing someone like Rousey, she's very likely going to get annihilated. Holm's boxing is not at the standard of Rousey's grappling or MMA ring craft.
This is basically what I am thinking on the matter. Holm is a pretty sweet striker to be fair, but how many MMA fights actually go for any significant amount of time as a stand up match when where's a grappler in the octagon? I have to admit, I've seen a lot of Holm's striking but not much on her grappling standards.
Even Holm didn't want the fight this soon. When the fighter doesn't think she's ready, what hope does she really have?
Women's MMA is so mismatched you can't possible see anyone beating her in the near future. It's not her fault of course she's sop head and shoulders above everyone else, but ti does make you wonder why they bother having a women's division at all. Oh hang on, she's blonde and pretty and generates lots of publicity, silly me ;-)
Don't be absurd They have really good fights against each other in the WMMA (hate that term) weight classes You cannot write a whole division off because the champ is untouchable, and you certainly cannot accuse it of being a T&A rationale
It is rather beyond debate that the level of skill overall is at least a solid decade behind most male divisions though, granted, there are a number of solid reasons for that, but it's still true.
There are a lot of sports where the women's version is far behind the men's simply because they started a lot later, so they've got a lot of catching up to do before they are at the same level. But the standards are improving all the time and they have something well worth watching. (Women's football is a good example of this.)
I actually think the women's MMA division, and combat sports in general, is one of the few female divisions which isn't hampered by being comparatively less powerful than their male counterparts. I mean hockey, basketball, tennis, etc. when the skill level is the same most people, myself included, would rather watch the one with more power and aggression. I think the women's MMA division is actually pretty fantastic, and somewhat unique in that respect.
I think it depends a lot on the sport. For example, I always used to enjoy wathing women's volleybal a lot more than men's, because you tended to get better rallies. The men's game seemed to be too much about speed and power to make a good sapectator sport, the women's game seemed to have more finesse. You might expect the same to be true of tennis, but it doesn't seem to work that way. Okay, you don't get as many huge servers, but you do get a lot of dull baseline play.
