Hi guys, I've just made the move to London and having done a year or so of wrestling in Australia, including a couple of comps, I'd really like to keep it up here. I'm in Shepherds Bush, close to Hammersmith. Can anyone recommend some clubs? Most I've researched so far seem to be on the east side. I'm open to MMS gyms and the like - it's all one great family after all. Thanks!
Mushroom is your man and I'm sure he'll be along with some answers soon. I'll also ask this question on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
First recommendation via Twitter. http://www.carlsongracieteam.org.uk/ As I've said though Mushroom will know the wrestling gyms and I've sent him a FB message. Edit. Message has been seen. MAP to the rescue.
Wassaup! Unfortunately the closest one to you was London Amatuer Wrestling in South Kensington, who has this year moved to Brighton. London Fight Factory teaches Freestyle and theyre based in Old Street, which you can get via the Central Line. I'll ask around, I think there was a few Pakistani and Sikh clubs held at some Temples but I dont know if theyre still running.
Also these guys http://www.tokeicentre.org/tokei fitness centre martial arts classes.php?id=6 However I dont know who is teaching the Wrestling there anymore. It used to be a British Amatuer Wrestling Ref but dont know if still there.
Thanks for the replies guys! I did look at London fight factory, perhaps that's my best option - actually wouldn't mind trying some MMA as well so could be a good option. Thanks MAP, good to be here in the motherland
Just been contacted by someone on Facebook. Wrestling Club Tokei magadon street London 11am Saturdays
Yup, thats the one I posted above as well, but not sure who teaches there anymore. If you ever end up in Kent, I can give you a name
Kingston lifestlye bjj have a great wrestling coach who teaches a no gi session on Saturdays. (He is a wrestler who is interested in bjj not the other way around). Kingston is not near to Hamersmith but it is not too far either.
Roger Gracie Academy focuses on BJJ, but has a wrestling class on Sundays and no-gi classes during the week 2 stops from S'Bu on the H&C or Circle lines rogergracie.com
Hi guys, Sorry for the really tardy response. Thanks once again for all the replies, I ended up joining London Shootfighters which is quite close (my first google turned up with their east London branch). I'm really loving it there, they have a healthy wrestling schedule and almost every other combat sport I want to try - just had my first MMA session!
