I can't say I watched the fight myself. From what I have heard he showed every sign of continuing to fight. Answering every exchange. He was put into an induced coma due to finding bleeding in his brain. A terrifying reminder of how brutal the sport can be. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2...ed-to-hospital-after-fight-with-chris-eubank/
Fingers crossed for the young man and as you say, as harsh reminder of the realities of the fight game.
https://www.facebook.com/realboxingguru/videos/1731138897133427/ Eubank snr telling his son to focus on the body, as Blackwell has had too much damage to his head, class act.
He didn't just answer every exchange, Eubank's low guard made it seem very possible that Blackwell would catch him on the way out. Otherwise maybe the ref would have stopped it earlier. As it was though, there was one point earlier where arguably he might have stepped in, but I don't think you could really criticise him for not doing so. Blackwell kept moving forwards with his guard high, but he was getting caught too often and had almost no head movement, so he was getting repeated and quite solid hits even through his guard. He showed tremendous strength of spirit and courage, I really hope he's ok. He's obviously a tough guy. Mitch
His corner should have Blackwell lacks 1 punch power and was never going to win short of Eubank suffering a heart attack.
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...nk-british-middleweight-bout?CMP=share_btn_tw A nice comment piece, on the context of the fight. How is health insurance sorted out in American bouts? Is it a mandatory part of the game, or do people chance it without any?
I know in MMA the promoter covers every fighter. In california it's between $2500-$5000 per event (I think). I only know this because in New York only big promotions will be allowed to fight there because health insurance is closer to $100,000 per event.
Michael Watson commenting on what must be for him a sense of deja vu , in the telegraph ; http://www.telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2...sense-of-deja-vu-when-i-watched-chris-eubank/
I just read this. http://www.badlefthook.com/2016/11/...ll-hospitalized-after-recent-sparring-session He managed to get through this alive and without lasting effects and he then goes and spars in the same year after his surgery? I can't understand why he did something like that!
Boxers aren't known for being the sharpest tools in the box. Incredibly stupid, selfish and did I mention stupid?
http://m.fightland.vice.com/blog/ni...ing-sparring-session?utm_source=fightlandfbus update, the coach who allowed the sparring has been banned from coaching!
