I never understood the competition format of Pencak Silat Tanding. It looks silly fighting with hands down, head forward. The stances commonly used in those matches are almost the opposite of how you should actually fight. From what i understand the forward leaning stance is used because you are not allowed to touch the face and make the surface on the body that can be hit as small as possible. To me it looks like 'please hit me in the face'
