Where to start or should I say restart?
I practiced the gentle art of aikido from 1996 for approximately 5 years and in that time I managed to get a gi that covers my ample (fat )body lol. I hasten to say at the time I'm was more than able to practice twice sometimes three times. I fell in love with aiki sadly we all except for a few at some point seem to follow a different path in parts of our lives and loose the passion to continue.
That said I've decided to put the magic suit back on and get back to the art , however the challenge I have is a cannot find a gi that would fit ( waist is 54" , 50" chest).

Could anyone out there give me some help in trying to find a gi that would accommodate me ?

    Thanking you all in anticipation

Maybe look at Judo gi suppliers? There are some BIG boys at the olympics. :)

have you tried asking around at the local aikido dojo? from my time in aikido, there were plenty of plus-size aikidoka around that i'm sure can help answer your question.

Really? If you're right you're right, but I am sincerely surprised that your size is not available.

There's a sizing chart on this here website. Maybe it fits you:

Smit recommended judo gis. I concur that single-weave judo gis are fine for aikido. You can get inexpensive single-weave gis from judogis.com. The different manufacturers have different size scales, so you have to look at each one separately, but I've seen large sizes on that website.

Custom aikido gi and/or hakama can be had at a pretty decent price from Jen D. I've not seen one myself, but have heard from others that she does very good work ... http://jenddesigns.com/product/custom-hemp-gi/

    Mizuno makes custom size judo-gi ... http://www.judogis.com/site/790161/page/358095

Sakura carries Big and Tall karate uniforms that ought to work fine for aikido ... http://www.sakuramartialarts.com/Martial_Arts_Uniforms_Karate_Big_And_Tall_p/uni-9994-a1.htm

Hope that gives you what you're looking for!
