I dunno. Why do they keep churning out zombie or vampire movies? How about all those violent video games-y'know,where you beat up a hooker to get your money back,or kill people?-all for laughs, entertainment, and peer group social standing. Isn't that stuff rather sick? You ever play any? "Hogan's Heroes",the fun and games in a POW camp run by the 3rd Reich was one of the most popular TV comedies of its day. In spite of some of us enjoying "sick" humor no one in my family would watch it. So who really had sick humor,my family,or most TV viewers in the USA? Ah,well. It's all perspective isn't it? After all, this forum is a place for people who do things like study how to butcher an opponent like a pig-and enjoy learning such things. Kinda "sick",ain't that? Annnnnd -Welcome to MAP!
I don't ever watch any of those sick movies and I don't play any of those crazy games either... Ive always liked Mario altho I will admit that I play metal gear solid from time to time. Hogan's heroes is actually one of my favorite shows(second to the Ateam). I know the setting of the show was not what is portrayed in the show however I always liked the clean humor in it... it beats the "stuffing" out of Saturday night live. I cant stand all the constant vulgarity.
Well, to each their own. Personally, I think turning the systematic genocide of millions of people into a light hearted comedy is pretty disgusting. And, I watched it as a kid. but I was too young to understand the holocaust and Nazi Germany.
Not the same. For one thing, the show evolved into very heavily dealing with the atrocities of war. And a lot of the humor involved had to do with how Dr.s evolved that sense of humor as a coping mechanism to deal with the insane situation they were in. Also, show was based of a book. While the book was a novel, it was based off the author/Dr.'s real experiences.
That's actually what I meant. That not all things showing the horrors of something have to be necessarily evil. Such as with something like Soylent Green. I thought this might open an simpler avenue for BA absorbing that point.
Oh, I misunderstood you at first. I thought you were comparing Hogan's Heroes with M*A*S*H. Hogan's Heroes glossed over the Holocaust. Did they even mention it? Unless my childhood memory is forgetting something.
The Holocaust wasn't something that people on the ground at the time would have been especially aware of. To insert something about the Holocaust would have been artificial.
I have to admit, that is the one thing I never liked about the show. I have a hobby of history and the more ive learned about Nazi Germany the more its bothered me. Also the more I learn about what really happened, how Hitler got elected, how he started the camps etc. The more terrified I become when I realize how its happening again. https://youtu.be/KBu9YsEAth4 Sound familiar??? You will love these camps trust me.
You aren't seriously comparing this to what happened in Nazi Germany, are you? If so, with all due respect, you need to study history more.
In that video she calls them "fun camps". I couldn't find it but in another vid she calls them "re-education camps" and then goes on to tell her socialist-communist friends that she will let them run these camps. But that video wasn't on utube very long... I guess its wherever her emails are now.
in case you were wondering Obama and Hillary are both self professing communists and so was hitler. I heard a guy on tv the other day saying ALL his rich Jewish friends are leaving the country. when he asked them why their answer was simple- Never Again
Also some food for thought. When Hitler was nominated he made his acceptance speech in front of an occult monument used In the worship of satan. When Obama was nominated he had that monument reconstructed in Colorado and he gave his acceptance speech from it.
But it wasn't about extermination camps,it was a POW camp. Hitler a self professing communist???? A communist??? I thought you knew some history. Guess not.
